As a student of class 22LC42SP2L, majoring in Electrical - Electronics Engineering, part-time program, cohort of 2022, Mai Xuan Hoang is currently working as an electrical systems design engineer at Thanh Nhan International Co., Ltd. Behind his outstanding graduation result is a long and challenging journey, where Hoang had to strike a balance between the demanding pace of work and the dedication required for academic pursuits. Hoang is one of the two students with the most outstanding achievements among all graduates of the part-time program at the graduation ceremony held in June 2025. His current success is the "sweet fruit" of perseverance, determination, and an unwavering desire for growth.

Perseverance in Overcoming Challenges – Affirming Self-Worth

Looking back on his journey, Hoang cannot hide his pride. For him, every grade is not merely a result of long hours of study, but a milestone marking his continuous efforts to surpass himself. Particularly, balancing study with work has never been easy, especially with his workplace located quite far from school, requiring careful planning every single day.

"The biggest challenge for me was balancing the pressures of work with my study schedule. Instead of complaining, I chose to make clear, specific plans, prioritize important tasks, and always try to maintain a positive mindset. I was fortunate to receive support from my company, so my studies were never disrupted," Hoang shared.

With that persistence, Hoang turned his exhausting post-work hours into meaningful moments, steadily accumulating knowledge to better himself.

Combining Study with Practical Work

Unlike many students who choose full-time study, Hoang opted for the part-time program so he could engage with real-world work experience while still in school. This choice gave him a distinct advantage: knowledge was no longer just dry theory but became a practical tool directly serving his profession.

"Working allowed me to identify which knowledge was truly essential in practice. That way, I could learn more efficiently, with clearer direction, and most importantly, I could immediately apply what I learned to my work in electrical systems design," Hoang added.

Behind his impressive academic results were no secret tricks, just a serious attitude in every class, unwavering persistence through each study session, and an ever-progressive spirit. Hoang made the most of his time in class by taking thorough notes, actively engaging with lecturers, and learning from his fellow classmates—many of whom were also balancing work and study every day.

"A dynamic learning environment, dedicated lecturers, and flexible support policies for students—especially in terms of reasonable scheduling—were key factors that motivated me to wholeheartedly pursue my academic journey," he shared.

Based on his own experience, Hoang sends a message to students who are currently or will be pursuing part-time study programs: "Never doubt the path you’ve chosen. Stay firm in your goals, be persistent with your dreams, and always move forward. Every sincere effort will be rewarded. Difficulties are merely challenges to sharpen your willpower, and success always belongs to those who never give up."
