1. MECA 2023 Competition Crowns SPK Fury Team as Champions


In a thrilling culmination of competition, the MECA 2023 competition is set to conclude with the SPK Fury team emerging victorious. Following rigorous school-level rounds, the University has meticulously selected the top contenders to advance to the grand finale of MECA 2023.

 

Hosted in collaboration with Mitsubishi Electric Vietnam and Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the final showdown is scheduled on July 15, 2023. The event serves as a platform for academic exchange, bringing together 12 esteemed universities from across the nation.

 

Out of the 18 teams that reached the final round, the SPK Fury team from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education demonstrated exceptional skills and innovation, securing the championship for MECA 2023. Their triumph marks a significant achievement in a competition that aims to foster intellectual exchange and showcase the talents of the brightest minds in engineering and technology.

 

The MECA 2023 competition not only highlights the prowess of participating universities but also promotes collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the academic community. As the SPK Fury team celebrates their victory, they join the ranks of elite teams making a lasting impact in the field of engineering. The competition's success underscores the dedication and talent of the next generation of innovators, setting the stage for future advancements in the rapidly evolving world of technology.


2. HCMUTE student scientific research in 2023

 

In the realm of student scientific research in 2023, a total of 168 research topics were submitted. On August 22, 2023, the Office of Science and Technology, in collaboration with specialized departments, held an evaluation session for the first phase of student scientific research topics. Out of the 52 topics in the first phase spanning Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics, Automation, Information Technology, Chemistry, Economics, Applied Sciences, and more, 5 stood out, 21 were deemed good, 20 were commendable, 4 were satisfactory, and 1 fell short. The second evaluation phase, conducted on November 1, 2023, featured 9 evaluation panels assessing 52 topics in fields like Mechanical Manufacturing, Mechanical Dynamics, Electrical and Electronics, Information Technology, Chemical Engineering, Food Technology, Economics, Applied Sciences, and Construction. This phase resulted in 2 outstanding topics, 21 good topics, 9 commendable topics, 4 satisfactory topics, and 1 unsatisfactory topic.

 

3. The Future Civil Engineers 2023 competition

 

From September 22 to 24, 2023, the Office of Science and Technology collaborated with the Faculty of Civil Engineering to organize the final round of The Future Civil Engineers 2023 competition, the eighth edition, with the participation of 119 students from 7 universities and colleges.


4.  CTF competition 2023

 

The Office of Science and Technology, in coordination with the Faculty of Information Technology, organized the CTF competition 2023. The final round of the competition took place on September 10, 2023, and awarded the first prize, second prize, third prize, and four encouragement prizes.

 
5. The 12th Student Programming competition in 2023

 

The 12th Student Programming competition in 2023 served as a valuable platform for talent discovery for the university's Computer Science Olympic team and participation in the Vietnam Student Computer Olympiad and the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Asia Regional Contest in 2023. The competition kicked off on September 19, 2023, with the final round held on October 1, 2023.


6. The 2023 AI Challenge

 

On October 8, 2023, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, in collaboration with The Youth Scientific and Technological Promotion Center, Ho Chi Minh City, organized the final round of the "AI Challenge" in 2023. Among the 60 teams, three teams from the university advanced to the final round, with one team winning the potential prize.

 

7. The 2023 Eureka  Competition

 

The selection of projects for the Eureka 2023 Student Research Award took place on September 25, 2023. The office of Science and Technology collaborated with specialized departments to form a review board and selected 49 projects to participate in the municipal Eureka award. On November 26, 2023, the ceremony commemorating the 25th anniversary and awarding the prizes for the Eureka Student Research Award 2023 took place at the Tran Chi Dao auditorium room - Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.

 

Over 25 years of foundation and development, the Eureka Student Research Award has not only been a scientific playground but also a nurturing foundation for young talents and future scientists of the country. On this occasion, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education received a Certificate of Merit from the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, praising individuals and groups for their significant contributions during the 25 years of the award.

 

This year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education participated with 47 representatives in the award, including Outstanding Projects that won 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, and 6 Encouragement Prizes.


1 Second Prize with the topic: "Smart Supermarket Cart with Automatic Payment Using Artificial Intelligence."

6 Encouragement Prizes with the following topics:

"Assessing the Influence of Low Blood Sugar Supplement Diets on the Physiology of Laboratory Animals."

"Comparison of Nano Copper Synthesis Products Using the Digestion Method and the Use of Flow Device with Glucose as a Reducing Agent."

"Production of Low Blood Sugar Index Starch from Waxy Corn Starch by Combined Hydrolysis and Retrogradation."

"Assessing the Impact of Diets Using Protein Concentrate from Tra Fish on the Physiology and Mobility of Laboratory Animals."

"Breakthrough in 3D Printing Technology: Enhancing Technological Capabilities in Casting Flow Models from Materials and Stereolithography Methods."
 
"Manufacturing Ion-Sensing Sensors Using Molecularly Imprinted Polymer on Nano-Silica Background."

 

8. The Quang Ngai Robotics Innovation Competition 2023

 

On July 2-4, 2023, the University, in collaboration with the Provincial Union of Scientific and Technical Associations of Quang Ngai, organized the final round of the Quang Ngai Robotics Innovation Competition 2023. The competition involved 54 teams from 14 high schools in the province. During the award ceremony, the University awarded a scholarship worth 20 million VND to the First Prize-winning team.

 

9. The HCMUTE donation of STEM classroom to  Dong Ha High School

 

Based on HCMUTE educational philosophy of "Humanity - Innovation - Integration," the University implemented the establishment of a Makerspace - STEM Lab for high school students in Quang Tri province. On August 21, 2023, in collaboration with Quang Tri province, the University held a ceremony to inaugurate and donate a STEM classroom with a total investment of 150 million VND to Dong Ha High School in Quang Tri province. The funding was raised by financial support from businesses and alumni in Quang Tri province to HCMUTE.

 

10. The Vietnamese Intelligence Day 2023 with the theme "Artificial Intelligence, Power for Life."

 

The Ministry of Science and Technology, in collaboration with VnExpress newspaper, organized the Vietnamese Intelligence Day 2023 with the theme "Artificial Intelligence, Power for Life." The office planned and selected outstanding research products of the University, developed by student researchers. The exhibited products at HCMUTE booth included Product 1: Non-invasive Blood Sugar Monitoring Device based on Wrist Pulse Analysis. Product 2: Smart Supermarket Cart with Automatic Payment based on AI. Product 3: Smart Library Robot, automatically recognizing students, lending, and returning books. The exhibition attracted many companies and enterprises to participate and experience the products, especially drawing attention from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Thanh Dat - Minister of Science and Technology during the Vietnamese Intelligence Day 2023.
