1. The 2023 International Conference on System Science and Engineering (ICSSE 2023)
From July 27 to 28, 2023, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education hosted the "2023 International Conference on System Science and Engineering" (ICSSE 2023). The conference attracted 300 authors presenting more than 140 papers, representing 11 countries.
On July 24, 2023, the university organized a seminar on the Assessment of the Mechanical and Automation Engineering Industry. The seminar aimed to evaluate the training and the practical demand for human resources in the Mechanical and Automation Engineering field in Ho Chi Minh City and nationwide. Experts, managers, and businesses in the field contributed to identifying the workforce requirements to meet international labor market demands.
2. Summer school event
In late August and early September 2023, the Summer School event under the ERASMUS+ FOREST project aimed to enhance the training capacity for Master's levels in the field of Chemical Engineering and Technology. HCMUTE's Department of Chemical Engineering and Food Technology was an official member of the project.
3. The 13th National Conference on Solid State Physics and Materials Science (SPMS 2023)
The 13th National Conference on Solid State Physics and Materials Science (SPMS 2023), a collaborative effort by various institutions, served as a significant scientific forum, attracting attention from the Vietnamese scientific community. The conference featured contributions from over 350 authors and scientists, both domestic and international, including professors from South Korea. The event included over 100 direct presentations and more than 200 poster presentations, along with the participation of nine booths showcasing products from conference sponsored.
On November 14, 2023, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education organized a seminar on "Advanced New Systems & Devices for Solar Energy Conversion," presented by Professor Lionel Vayssieres from the International Research Center for Renewable Energy (IRCRE), Xi’an Jiaotong University.
4. Curriculum development for Master's programs
On November 21-22, 2023, the university conducted a workshop on "Curriculum development for Master's programs" within the framework of the ERASMUS+ FOREST project, focusing on the development of Master's programs in Chemistry. The workshop provided an opportunity for member institutions in Vietnam to share their curriculum development plans, teaching strategies, and address challenges.
The FOREST project (Future Oriented Chemistry) is a program development initiative for Master's training in the field of Future-Oriented Chemistry, sponsored by ERASMUS within the European Union alliance. The University of Technical Education in Ho Chi Minh City is one of the participating members in implementing the project. The workshop is organized to provide an opportunity for member universities in Vietnam to share insights on the framework of Master's training programs in the field of Chemistry, including perspectives and plans for developing specific course lectures for the program.
During the workshop, participating universities discuss and share their views, plans, and specific lecture materials for the program. Additionally, groups present their opinions on strengths, weaknesses, and challenges that need to be addressed. On the other hand, the workshop significantly contributes to the vigorous promotion of project activities, deepening the collaborative relationship among the involved parties. Based on reports from the universities, Professor Jan-Erik Lundqvist and two foreign experts provide practical suggestions for universities to refine and enhance the program according to European standards.
8. Climate Change Mitigation, Adaptation and Net Zero project
On December 8, 2023, another workshop under the ERASMUS+ FOREST project titled "Climate Change Mitigation, Adaptation and Net Zero" took place. The seminar included over 100 professors, lecturers, and students from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. Four lectures were presented on topics such as livelihood vulnerability to climate change, optimizing agricultural biomass treatment for energy efficiency, digital integrated management system for e-waste, and the role of fuel cells in climate change mitigation and renewable energy.
On December 14, 2023,at the meeting room II, the Office of Science and Technology,HCMUTE, in collaboration with the Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Center of the National University of Ho Chi Minh City, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance collaboration. Following the MOU signing ceremony, a workshop was held to introduce intellectual property and regulations for establishing intellectual property rights, aiming to promote understanding and engagement in intellectual property activities in scientific research among faculty members. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tu Diep Cong Thanh, the Director of the Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Center, and Mr. Vuong Hoang Nguyen, the Head of the Intellectual Property Department, shared insights on intellectual property.
