The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) serves as a vital link between individuals and the world of academia. Established in Heidelberg in 1925 through the visionary efforts of student Carl Joachim Friedrich, DAAD has grown into a premier institution facilitating student exchanges and scholarly pursuits. With a rich history spanning nearly a century, DAAD has empowered over 1.9 million scholars, both within Germany and globally.

Beyond its core mission of facilitating academic exchanges, DAAD holds a significant role as an association of German universities, colleges, and students. In addition to offering scholarships, DAAD actively promotes the internationalization of German higher education, fosters the spread of German language and studies worldwide, and champions capacity-building initiatives in higher education within developing nations. Moreover, DAAD serves as a trusted advisor on matters of education policy, diplomacy, and development.

Through its endeavors, DAAD continues to nurture intellectual growth, foster cross-cultural understanding, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge on a global scale.
