HCMUTE signed an MOU and got sponsorship from Cognex Vietnam Company to bolster their collaboration in scientific research, scholarship funding, and the provision of advanced equipment for students. On May 21, 2024, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) formalized this agreement, receiving sponsorship valued at 5 billion Vietnamese Dong from Cognex Vietnam Company.

The signing ceremony was attended by key representatives, including Mr. Nguyen Viet Chinh, Sales Director of Cognex Vietnam; Mr. Phan Nguyen Quy Nhon, Cognex Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City representative; and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son, ASEAN and India Technical Department Head. From HCMUTE, participants included Associate Professor Dr. Le Hieu Giang, University Rector; Ms. Le Phan Nhat Hang, Deputy Head of the Enterprise Relations Department; and Associate Professor Dr. Do Thanh Trung, Deputy Head of the Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing Department, alongside faculty members from the same department.

Under the terms of the memorandum, HCMUTE and Cognex will intensify their cooperation, leveraging respective strengths and pooling resources to enhance student training. Focus areas include promoting knowledge in machine vision and integrating Cognex products into robotics and industrial automation systems. The collaboration aims to cultivate a skilled workforce of automation engineers tailored for the Southern Vietnam region.

Looking ahead to 2024-2025, Cognex plans to sponsor two technology solution packages for the Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing Department. These packages encompass cameras, lighting, interface cards, Vision Pro image processing software featuring Cognex Deep Learning, and the Cognex In-Sight Vision Suite software. These resources will facilitate practical training for students on laptops, enhancing their skills in applying AI for image processing, defect detection, and precise measurements.

The partnership between HCMUTE and Cognex signifies a pivotal starting point for mutual relations, opening avenues to enrich educational activities. These include conducting training sessions on machine vision technology, organizing knowledge-sharing events, recruitment drives, and internship programs. These initiatives are designed to equip students with essential skills for future careers, thereby contributing comprehensively to the development of human resources to meet industry demands.
