From January 29-30, 2024, a delegation from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) carried out a social outreach program titled "Loving Spring" . The group delivered 250 New Year gift packages, 5 computers, and various other gifts to the residents of Quang Tam Commune, Tuy Duc District, Dak Nong Province.
This program, organized by the university's Trade Union Executive Committee in collaboration with the Youth Union, aimed to provide a warm and meaningful Tết celebration for the elderly living alone, impoverished households, and disadvantaged children in the mountainous region. The program featured several meaningful activities, including:
Distributing 250 New Year gift packages to policy families, poor households, and individuals living alone (each valued at 500,000 VND);
Operating a "Zero-Dong Stall" to distribute donated items such as old clothes, blankets, books, stories, toys, and more;
Conducting the "Highland Kitchen" initiative to prepare and cook 200 sticky rice cakes for poor policy families, individuals living alone, and border soldiers;
Donating 5 computers to the People’s Committee of Quang Tam Commune;
Hosting the "Spring Love at the Border" event, which included a campfire, cultural exchange with border soldiers, and entertainment performances for local residents.
Fourth-grader Nguyen Huu Binh Minh was delighted to receive a new pencil case and comic books, saying, “I got a lot of beautiful clothes, so I have new clothes for Tết. I also picked out many comic books and a new pencil case, so my mother doesn’t have to buy one.”
For the people of Quang Tam Commune, even small items like old clothes, a pencil case, or a few donated goods are valuable gifts. These items represent the precious sharing of love and community spirit, embodying the saying "the good leaves protect the worn-out leaves" and bringing the true essence of “Loving Spring” to the area. Nông Thị Liễu, who came to receive clothes, expressed her gratitude: “I think the program is very meaningful, bringing many items for the children. I don’t have money to buy Tết clothes for my children, but I got a lot of clothes here. This Tết, my children will have new clothes like their friends. I am very grateful to the volunteer group.”
