On the morning of January 24, 2024, a ceremony took place at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) to mark the handover and inauguration of the Yaskawa i3-Mechatronics laboratory, generously sponsored by Yaskawa Electric Corporation.
The aim of this sponsorship is to provide students and faculty with access to modern, advanced technology and equipment, thereby enhancing the quality of teaching and learning.
Representing HCMUTE at the ceremony were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang, Acting President, along with the leadership from the Electrical - Electronics Department, the International Training Department, the Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing Department, and the Mechanical Dynamics Department.
From the corporate side, attendees included Mr. Nobuaki Jinnouchi, CEO and Asia Regional Manager of YASKAWA ELECTRIC, Mr. Ryutaro Kuwamura, General Director of YASKAWA ELECTRIC VIETNAM, Ms. Nguyen Thuong An, Head of the General Administration Department, Mr. Nguyen Linh, Sales Director, Mr. Tomonori Oguri, Business Development Director, and Mr. Truong Minh Thanh, Assistant Sales Director.
The field of robotics, particularly in design, engineering, and operation, has seen significant progress and rapid development in recent years. Recognizing its immense importance, Yaskawa Electric Corporation of Japan sponsored the "Yaskawa i3-Mechatronics" Laboratory at HCMUTE with a total value of $253,000 USD, equivalent to nearly 6 billion VND, aimed at facilitating high-quality training and research activities in the field of automation in the Industry 4.0 era.
The i3-Mechatronics laboratory is equipped with 03 GP7 6-axis robot arm systems combined with inverters, servo motors, controllers, cameras, simulation software, supervisory control, forming a robotic system simulating a production line and product testing in an intelligent automated factory. This system not only enables students to study and research robot systems deeply but also integrates modern knowledge such as image processing, drive control, artificial intelligence in an overall automation system. Additionally, Yaskawa Electric Corporation sponsored 06 drive control sets including servo motors, inverters, cameras to support practical training in controlling drive systems in factories.
