On the morning of December 16, 2024, at Ho Chi Minh City University of Techology and Education (HCMUTE), representatives from the university held a meeting with the British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City to enhance cooperation with UK partners in education and training and explore new opportunities for future research projects, scientific conferences, and academic exchanges.

 

The HCMUTE delegation included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang, Acting President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chau Dinh Thanh, Vice President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Truong Dinh Nhon, Dean of the International Education Faculty; M.A. Pham Bach Duong, Head of the International Affairs Office; and M.A. Nguyen Thoi, Deputy Head of the International Affairs Office. Representing the British Consulate General were Mrs. Alexandra Smith, Consul General, and from the British Council, Mrs. Phan Thi Bao Phi, Education Program Manager.

In a formal and cordial atmosphere, both sides reviewed the long-standing cooperation between the UK and Vietnam, particularly in the areas of education and training. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang, representing HCMUTE, emphasized, "Over the past 20 years, HCMUTE has built strong relationships with UK universities and successfully implemented numerous projects with the British Council. We look forward to expanding collaboration opportunities, particularly in areas such as joint training programs, faculty, student and staff exchanges, as well as scientific research and international publications."

During her speech, Mrs. Alexandra Smith, Consul General of the UK in Ho Chi Minh City, expressed her admiration for HCMUTE's achievements in technical education and reaffirmed her commitment to supporting future collaborative initiatives. She highlighted, "Vietnam and the UK highly value the sustainable education partnership between our countries." She expressed confidence that through training programs, scientific conferences, and joint research projects, HCMUTE will continue to solidify its role as a key strategic partner for UK universities.

 

The meeting concluded with preliminary agreements to further strengthen cooperation with UK partners, implement joint research projects, expand academic exchange programs, and provide financial support for new educational programs such as Semiconductor Technology and Microchip Design. This collaboration underscores the growing and sustainable partnership between HCMUTE and its UK counterparts, contributing to the advancement of higher education and scientific research at the university on a global scale.
