On the afternoon of October 25, 2024, a meaningful exchange and seminar took place in the main hall of HCMUTE (Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education), where Mr. Le Phuoc Vu, Chairman of the Board of Directors (BOD) of Hoa Sen Group, shared his experiences with the university's students.
Attending the program from Hoa Sen Group were Mr. Le Phuoc Vu – Chairman of the Board, Mr. Vu Van Thanh – General Director, along with other management staff, many of whom are alumni of the university. They included Mr. Nguyen Minh Phuc – Deputy General Director responsible for Production; Mr. Pham Dinh – Acting Deputy General Director responsible for Supply and Purchasing at Hoa Sen Home system; Mr. Nguyen Van Minh – Director of Phu My Steel Plant; Mr. Nguyen Van Truong – Director of the Galvanizing Plant; Mr. Than Van Giap – Deputy Director of Technical Department at Phu My Steel Plant; Mr. Dang Van Thanh – Deputy Director of Hoa Sen Steel in Binh Duong; and Mr. Le Ba Dung – Deputy Director of Supply and Materials at the Galvanizing Plant.
Representing HCMUTE were Dr. Quach Thanh Hai – Party Committee member, Board of Trustees member, and Head of the Training Department (who was recently appointed Vice Rector during the meeting on October 23, 2024), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chau Dinh Thanh – Party Committee member, Board of Trustees member, and Dean of the Department of Civil Engineering (also recently appointed Vice Rector). The event was also attended by faculty leaders and nearly 1,000 students from the university.
Opening the program, Dr. Quach Thanh Hai expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the university leadership to Hoa Sen Group and Chairman Le Phuoc Vu for their visit and the valuable sharing session with HCMUTE students. Hoa Sen Group has been and continues to be a trusted business partner, where many alumni from the university have graduated, worked, and achieved significant accomplishments. Dr. Hai also expressed interest in the idea Mr. Vu suggested regarding the establishment of a campus of HCMUTE in Dong Nai, a region with great industrial development potential.
In the session themed "Continuing the Path to Success," Mr. Le Phuoc Vu shared profound stories from his entrepreneurial journey, delivering a message of perseverance and relentless effort, even in the face of numerous challenges. Alumni who are now managers at Hoa Sen Group also enthusiastically shared practical work experiences, from their career advancements to memorable milestones at Hoa Sen. These authentic and rich stories served as a strong source of motivation, providing students with a clearer understanding of striving for success in a professional work environment.
Mr. Le Phuoc Vu emphasized: "Competition is inevitable in work and life, especially if you aim for higher positions. Coming to HCMUTE is a big turning point, where the quality of education is highly regarded in the industry. Students should make the most of their time at the university, from learning, practicing, to internships, to equip themselves with professional knowledge, business skills, English proficiency, communication skills, and a good work attitude. I hope that some of you will follow in our footsteps, becoming employees of Hoa Sen and contributing to the company's development in the future."
The alumni currently in management roles at Hoa Sen Group also shared their practical experiences in work, learning, contribution, and their career progression with memorable milestones at Hoa Sen.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Phuc – Deputy General Director responsible for Production at Hoa Sen Group, and an alumnus of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Class of 2001-2005, began his career as a technical staff member at a lathe machine department. He was sent to India for specialized training and later became Deputy Director of Technical at Phu My Plant. In 2016, he was appointed Director at Hoa Sen Steel in Nghe An, and in 2023, he became Deputy General Director responsible for Production. Mr. Phuc shared: "The knowledge I acquired at the university laid the foundation, which, along with my daily efforts, led me to the success I have today."
Mr. Pham Dinh – Acting Deputy General Director responsible for Supply and Purchasing at Hoa Sen Home, expressed: "The greatest honor for me was studying at HCMUTE, and the biggest turning point was when I started working at Hoa Sen. The values of ethics and humanity I received from the company have helped me reach my current position. I sincerely thank my professors for their guidance and support during my university years."
Regarding his choice of HCMUTE, Mr. Nguyen Van Truong – Director of Hoa Sen Phu My Steel Plant, shared that he chose HCMUTE because the university always had policies to support tuition fees and offer scholarships to disadvantaged students, especially during the period from 2000 to 2005.
Currently, more than 50% of leadership positions at Hoa Sen Group are held by HCMUTE alumni – a remarkable figure that not only reflects the university’s prestige and influence but also affirms the quality of HCMUTE’s education across generations. With a strong knowledge foundation and practical skills gained during their studies, these alumni have established themselves as key contributors to the development and success of the group. This is not only a source of pride for HCMUTE but also a clear testament to the capacity and adaptability of its graduates when they enter a competitive corporate environment.
The next segment of the program, focused on "Social Responsibility and Community Engagement," saw Mr. Le Phuoc Vu and artists from the "Mai Am Gia Dinh Viet" program introduce the charity activities of Hoa Sen Group, such as building charity homes and supporting students in difficult circumstances. This was aimed at fostering a spirit of responsibility and kindness among students. The participating students not only learned more about social responsibility but were also encouraged to incorporate this spirit into all aspects of their future activities.
Through this program, HCMUTE students had the opportunity to hear inspiring stories from Mr. Le Phuoc Vu, Chairman of Hoa Sen Group’s BOD, and gain insights into the paths of advancement, experiences, and values accumulated by alumni at the company. The seminar created a space for connection, helping students see their potential for personal and professional development with determination and continuous effort. At the same time, through the discussion of Hoa Sen Group’s social responsibility activities, students were inspired to contribute to the community, adopt a sustainable development mindset, and prepare for their future careers with valuable lessons.

The images of alumni who once studied at HCMUTE and now hold senior leadership roles at Hoa Sen Group serve as a great source of encouragement and a real-life example for students. Their advancement proves the potential and opportunities that HCMUTE students can achieve with diligent effort and constant striving.
By participating in this exchange, students not only heard success stories but also gained a deeper understanding of the challenges and valuable lessons in working and advancing in a large corporation like Hoa Sen Group. They were able to accumulate more practical knowledge, gain clearer career development direction, and get motivated to overcome challenges and reach success.
