In order to provide excellent HCMUTE graduates with the opportunity to receive scholarships for master's programs in future industries in South Korea, and to establish a solid foundation for long-term cooperation in education and research, on the morning of October 24, 2024, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) held a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with two South Korean universities: Ulsan University (UoU) and the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) at the university’s meeting room I.

At the signing ceremony, HCMUTE was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lê Hiếu Giang, Acting President of the University, along with leadership and faculty representatives from departments such as Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Chemical & Food Technology, Applied Science, International Training, and the International Relations Office. From the South Korean universities, Mr. Chiwoon Cho, Vice President of UoU, and Mr. Sung Chul Bae, Vice President of UNIST, along with other representatives from both institutions, attended the ceremony.

According to the MOU, Ulsan University (UoU) and Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) will jointly confer degrees to graduates who meet the training requirements of both institutions. The master's program lasts for 2 years and 2 months, including a 2-month Korean language course before the main program begins. Notably, the program will focus on future industries (as shown in the image below). The teaching language will be English to ensure a convenient environment for international students.

To attract outstanding international students, UoU and UNIST will also offer attractive scholarships, with approximately five HCMUTE students expected to receive this support. The scholarships will cover tuition fees, accommodation, meals, and a partial living stipend. Moreover, UoU and UNIST will create job opportunities for high-achieving students, helping them secure employment with South Korean companies after graduation, thereby opening up promising career paths.

Earlier, in September 2023, HCMUTE signed an MOU with UoU and UNIST for a master's program in three future industries for HCMUTE graduates, with students being recommended by the university. The program follows a 1+1 training model, where students will study online during the first year and then continue their studies in person in Ulsan, South Korea, during the second year. This model not only facilitates students’ access to distance learning but also provides the opportunity to experience advanced international education in South Korea.

Training in future industries will not only provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to meet the demands of the modern labor market but also contribute to the sustainable development of the economy. Fields such as health sciences, next-generation battery technology, and carbon-neutral technologies are rapidly developing and have huge potential in the future, especially in the context of the green transition and climate change response. Training students in these fields in a country with strong expertise in technology and healthcare like South Korea will not only expose them to advanced technologies but also open up many attractive job opportunities and career development prospects. With its strong investment in research and development in fields such as next-generation battery technology, carbon-neutral technologies, and health sciences, South Korea has become a hub for innovation. Students studying here will have the opportunity to learn from top experts, participate in real-world research projects, and experience a professional working environment.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) is committed to actively promoting this scholarship opportunity to HCMUTE students and recommending outstanding candidates to UoU and UNIST. The selection process will be carried out by the two South Korean universities, ensuring the evaluation and selection of the most suitable candidates.
