On the morning of June 8, 2024, a delegation from the Vietnam Association for Logistics Manpower Development (VALOMA) visited and held a working session with Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE). This visit aimed to enhance the connection and cooperation between the Association and the university, focusing on improving the capacity and quality of logistics human resource training.
The delegation included notable figures such as Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Director of the Import-Export Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Honorary President of VALOMA; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Thi Ngoc Oanh, Head of VALOMA's Inspection Committee; Dr. Ha Minh Hieu, Deputy Head of VALOMA's Communication Department; MSc. Nguyen Tuan Nam, Deputy Head of the Membership Department; and Mr. Bui Huu Nghia, Deputy Head of VALOMA's Training Department. Representatives from U&I Logistics, Alphatran Logistics, Onex Logistics, and FM Logistics were also in attendance.
From HCMUTE, the session was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang, Acting President; Dr. Dang Quang Vang, Head of the Faculty of Economics; MSc. Nguyen Thi Chau Long, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Economics; M.Eng. Pham Huu Thai, Head of the Enterprise Relations Office; Dr. Vong Thinh Nam, Head of the Logistics Department - Faculty of Economics; Dr. Ho Thi Hong Xuyen, Deputy Head of the Logistics Department - Faculty of Economics; Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Head of the Business Administration Department - Faculty of Economics.
Mr. Tran Thanh Hai highlighted that logistics is a new field, presenting challenges in training and enrollment for many schools. He expressed his hope that this visit would provide an opportunity to understand the school's difficulties and propose suitable solutions. He emphasized that close cooperation between educational institutions and businesses is crucial for improving the quality of human resources to meet the future needs of the logistics industry.

During the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang expressed a desire for support from businesses in providing internships for students and facilitating scientific research activities and seminars. He stressed that collaboration between the university and businesses not only provides students with practical experience but also allows businesses to share specific industry requirements and standards, thereby enhancing training quality and ensuring graduates are job-ready.

HCMUTE lecturers and business representatives shared the challenges in training logistics personnel. Discussions between VALOMA and HCMUTE representatives included specific cooperation programs, such as organizing training courses, thematic seminars, and internship programs for students at logistics companies.

HCMUTE has placed significant emphasis on improving training quality and developing the capabilities of logistics students. This is evident from the impressive achievements of HCMUTE students in major competitions, such as third place in the 2020 Vietnam Young Logistics Talent competition and second place in the 2023 Vietnam Young Logistics Talent competition, both organized by VALOMA. Additionally, two outstanding students from the Logistics and Supply Chain Management Department of the Faculty of Economics received prestigious VALOMA scholarships in both 2022 and 2023. These accomplishments highlight the school's continuous efforts in investing in and developing high-quality human resources to meet the growing demands of the labor market.
The visit and working session by the Vietnam Association for Logistics Manpower Development (VALOMA) at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education not only provided an opportunity to share and address challenges but also opened new avenues for cooperation, contributing to enhancing training quality and promoting the development of Vietnam's logistics industry in the future.
