Not only are they outstanding engineering students who graduated early with remarkable achievements, but Nguyen Nhat Truong , Nguyen Tan An, and Huynh Phuc Hoang also demonstrated resilience and a progressive spirit in their academic journey. Despite facing numerous challenges on their path to knowledge, through relentless effort, personal passion, and the support of the University, they have created a journey to be proud of at HCMUTE.

Turning Challenges into Motivation

Nguyen Nhat Tuong, the youngest in his family, has faced hardships since 2017 when his father passed away due to a work accident. From that point, Tuong, his mother, and two older sisters struggled together to overcome difficulties. Once a carefree boy under his parents’ protection, Tuong matured early after that major turning point. Coming from a farming family in a rural area, with his mother shouldering all financial burdens, Tường always reminded himself to work hard to become a solid pillar for his family.

Nguyen Nhat Tuong is a student who has overcome financial difficulties, excels academically, and has made significant contributions to Youth Union and student association activities.

Choosing to study engineering at HCMUTE with the hope of a more stable future, Nhat Tuong recalled the difficult early days of his university life: “During the online learning period due to Covid, I didn’t even have a laptop. I started working part-time as soon as I arrived in Ho Chi Minh City to cover my expenses. Fortunately, with scholarships from the university, some of that burden was lifted, giving me peace of mind to focus on my studies.” His personal efforts combined with the University's support transformed Tường from a shy, bewildered freshman into the confident, strong individual he is today.

Tuong’s journey is not just one of overcoming hardships; it is also marked by many achievements: six semesters earning merit-based scholarships, a scientific paper presented at the international MSSE conference, winning the “Five Good Student” title for three consecutive years, third prize in a mechanical skills competition, second prize in the Stair Climbing Robot Contest, receiving the Nitori scholarship, and participating in numerous volunteer trips to remote areas. “We joined those trips hoping to help others, but in the end, we received even more—love, experiences, and companions for life.”

For Tuong, excelling academically is not only a way out of poverty but also a means to become a solid support for his mother and family. “I want to be strong enough so that my mother can rely on me without having to worry anymore,” Tuong shared. His dreams don’t stop there—he also wishes to fulfill his duty as a young citizen by serving in the military as a way to develop himself further and contribute to building the country.

Nguyen Tan An and Huynh Phuc Hoang are two engineering students from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) who graduated early with impressive academic records (achieving the highest graduation scores in the January, March, and April 2025 graduation periods). Each with their own background, but what they share is a determined spirit to overcome challenges and an unwavering effort to turn dreams into reality.

Growing up in a single-parent family in An Giang with his mother and older sister, An, as the eldest grandson of his family line, was always aware of his responsibilities: “I saw my mother and sister struggling to make ends meet to support my education. I wanted to become a role model for the younger kids in my family to follow.”

His passion for physics and technology led Tan An to pursue Automotive Engineering Technology at HCMUTE. From his very first year at university, he set a clear goal for himself—to study efficiently and master the knowledge thoroughly. As a result, in just three and a half years, he completed his academic program, graduating with a GPA of 8.88/10. Alongside his academic achievements, he earned notable awards in academic competitions, including a Creativity Award at the MiniCar Racing contest organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Automobile Association, a Consolation Prize at the RF Speed competition, and several other scholarships from the University.

An shared that his most difficult period was at the beginning of his university journey, when everything was new and unfamiliar, and he lacked confidence. Thanks to the friends he made during those early days and the dedicated guidance of his teachers, An gradually adapted and turned those challenges into motivation to steadily improve his academic performance. “I always make clear plans and set specific goals for each stage. This helps me both perform well in my studies and participate in various competitions to gain practical experience.” His consistent, goal-oriented approach was the key to achieving such admirable results.

Currently, An is working at Bosch Global Software, the place he once dreamed of joining since his first year of university. Over the next three to five years, An’s goal is to secure a solid position at Bosch globally and eventually return to the University to support younger students who share his passion for technology.

Unlike Tan An, Huynh Phuc Hoang was born and raised in a farming family in Binh Dinh. His father passed away early, leaving his mother to work tirelessly to raise Hoang and his brother. Hoang realized early on that pursuing education was the best way to develop himself and lift his family out of poverty. Fascinated by machines, Hoàng chose to study Control and Automation Engineering at HCMUTE.

Upon entering university, Hoang was immediately confronted with the worry of living expenses. A turning point came when he was accepted into the Co May Dormitory, which provided comprehensive support including tuition, accommodation, and meals. “That was the biggest stepping stone that allowed me to focus on studying and self-development.”

With unwavering effort, Hoang achieved a GPA of 8.8, served as the lead researcher of a university-level research project, published four international scientific papers, and received scholarships such as the Power On scholarship and merit-based awards. Each scholarship he received marked a special milestone: “The feeling of my heart racing when I saw my name on the scholarship list was not just joy but also a confirmation that I was on the right path.”

Like Tan An, Hoang also set clear goals for his future: “In three years, I want to become a research and development engineer. In five years, I hope to go international—whether through a global position or through the innovations I create.”

The Graduation Ceremony marks a significant milestone for each student, closing the chapter of their university life and opening a new journey where they will continue to pursue their dreams, ambitions, and aspirations. We wish them continued strength, success, and the ability to spread the HCMUTE spirit throughout the community.
