To help lecturers better understand the scientific research process and the application of technology transfer, on the morning of December 19, 2023, at Meeting Room 2, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) held the "Workshop on Sharing Experience in Scientific Research and Technology Transfer Activities 2023."
Attending the workshop were representatives from the university’s Board of Directors: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lê Hiếu Giang – Deputy Party Secretary, Acting Rector; Dr. Trương Thị Hiền – Party Secretary, Vice Rector. From the university's Union: Comrade Nguyễn Thanh Giang – Vice Chairman of the Union, Head of the Emulation and Reward Committee. From the Science and Technology Department: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoàng An Quốc – Head of the Science and Technology Department, along with speakers, leaders from various faculties, departments, centers, institutes, and 200 lecturers.
In recent years, with the attention of the Party Committee and the university's Board of Directors, scientific research (SR) and technology transfer (TT) activities at HCMUTE have been quite vibrant, with many outstanding research projects and initiatives. The university has also invested more in facilities for learning and research, adjusted policies to create favorable conditions for lecturers to perform SR tasks, and achieved many commendable accomplishments. However, SR remains an activity that demands much effort, perseverance, and poses challenges for lecturers, especially younger ones who are not yet actively engaged in SR. Understanding these difficulties, the university’s Union collaborated with the Science and Technology Department to organize this workshop.
In his opening speech, Comrade Nguyễn Thanh Giang emphasized the crucial role of SR and TT in teaching activities and solving practical life problems. The workshop provided a venue for lecturers to meet, exchange, and listen to the experiences of seasoned experts in SR and TT, gaining a clearer understanding of the research process from idea conception to publication and subsequent technology transfer. This, in turn, aimed to inspire, motivate, and build confidence among lecturers to undertake new projects and initiatives.
At the workshop, lecturers listened to presentations by speakers and experts on prominent topics such as "New Points in SR Regulations – Experiences in Conducting SR Projects and Initiatives" (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoàng An Quốc, Head of the Science and Technology Department); "Experience in Research and International Publication" (Dr. Nguyễn Duy Đạt, Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology); and "Bringing Research Products to Businesses: Experiences and Lessons" (MSc. Lê Tấn Cường, Director of the Technology Transfer Center).
The next part of the workshop was a forum for sharing experiences and answering questions about SR and TT. Here, lecturers actively discussed and interacted with speakers and experts, expressing interest in related issues, thereby clearly showcasing the role and mission of universities. This included not only focusing on academic scientific research to increase international publications but also emphasizing applied research, discovering, and addressing problems arising from practical needs.
At the end of the program, to encourage the spirit of union members and promote the emulation movement in SR activities, the Emulation and Reward Committee of HCMUTE's Union, in collaboration with the Science and Technology Department, held a ceremony to commend union members with outstanding achievements in SR activities during the 2022 – 2023 period.
