On December 6, 2023, the opening ceremony of the 32nd Vietnam Student Informatics Olympics - Procon Vietnam (OLP’23) and the ICPC Asia Hue City 2023 programming contest were held at the University of Sciences, Hue University.
This programming contest is for both specialized and non-specialized IT students from universities and colleges nationwide. The event took place at Hue University of Sciences from December 5 to 8, 2023, featuring 5 Olympic competition blocks, 1 Procon block, and the ICPC Asia Hue City block. The contest attracted over 600 IT students and more than 140 coaches from 79 universities, colleges, and academies across the country, along with 20 teams comprising 60 students from 10 prestigious universities in 6 Asian countries: South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines. This event celebrates the talent and IT skills of students on the largest international scale in Vietnam.
Of particular note is the ICPC Asia competition, where strong teams from 10 prestigious universities in 6 Asian countries (South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines) participated. The top 10 ICPC rankings this year mostly featured these international teams. However, the team HCMUTE.Fortune, consisting of 3 members: Tran Canh Nam, Lam Duy Bao, and Quan Minh Duc, all from the Information Technology Department of the University of Technical Education Ho Chi Minh City, achieved a highly convincing Silver Medal.
The competition was entirely conducted using online grading systems following international standards. The programming contest contents (OLP and ICPC) on the VNOJ system were operated by the Vietnam Olympic Club, with the Procon contest following Japanese standards, and the OLP PMNM content conducted in the form of a Hackathon. All competition results were announced in real-time, freezing only one hour before the conclusion for result security until the awards ceremony in the evening of December 8.
