On the morning of May 28, 2023, more than 42,000 candidates participated in the 2nd Competency Assessment Exam in 2023 organized by Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM). The exam was held in 04 provinces/cities, with a total of  39 test positions, . At Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) many candidates and their parents were present at the school very early in the morning. In order to best support the candidates taking the exam, the school has strengthened the preparation work. Additional gates were opened to reduce traffic jam, and the parking lot at the school was divided between the contestants and HCMUTE students. The layout of the exam room was arranged in the main aisles, along with an increased number of volunteers, helping candidates easily get to the exam room in the shortest time. 

There are some methods of student enrollment in 2023 including direct recruitment; Priority for direct admission; Admission by high school academic records ; Considering the scores of the High School Graduation Exam 2023 and the results of the Competency Assessment Exam of VNU-HCM. Admission to HCMUTE through the results of the National University-HCM Competency Assessment Test helps candidates have more options and generate the sense of safety before entering the high school exam.
