Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) recently announced the list of candidates with the highest entrance scores for the 2024 academic year. Among them, the top scorer is Nguyen Phi Bao, a former student of Nguyen Khuyen Secondary and High School (Ho Chi Minh City), with a score of 28.25. The second-highest scorer is Nguyen Ni Muon, a former student of Nguyen Tran High School (Binh Dinh), who achieved a score of 28.00.
With an impressive 28.25 points in the A00 combination of the 2024 National High School Graduation Exam, Nguyen Phi Bao was admitted to the Automation and Control Engineering Technology program of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, becoming the top scorer at HCMUTE for 2024.
Born and raised in Binh Thuan, a land known for its harsh winds and scorching sun, Bao developed a resilient and determined spirit. During high school, he left his hometown to attend Nguyen Khuyen environment. His tireless efforts and determination, coupled with the intense academic pressure, drove him to achieve outstanding results in the national exam.
Reflecting on his emotions upon learning that he was the top scorer, Phi Bao shared:
“I was truly surprised by the result. I was quite satisfied with my 28.25 points, but I didn’t think I would become the top scorer because I believed there were others with higher scores. So, when I received the news, I was both shocked and very happy.”
Bao attributed his achievement to his persistent efforts and the support of his teachers and family:
“This result is the outcome of consistent hard work and the encouragement of my teachers and family. I am deeply grateful to everyone who supported me.”
He also mentioned the challenges he faced during his preparation:
“There were times I felt very exhausted and stressed, but the motivation from my family and friends kept me going.”
His study secret? Consistently reviewing knowledge to retain and apply it effectively.
When asked why he chose the Automation and Control Engineering Technology program, Phi Bao explained:
“I carefully considered several factors before choosing HCMUTE. Firstly, I know the university is among the top institutions in engineering and technology in Vietnam. The curriculum emphasizes both theory and practical application, with well-equipped laboratories. Additionally, HCMUTE pays great attention to student welfare. I believe this is an ideal environment for my comprehensive personal development.”
For Phi Bao, becoming the top scorer is a new beginning filled with opportunities and challenges. It’s both a personal joy and a motivation to continue improving himself during his studies at HCMUTE.
Looking ahead, Bao shared his goals:
“My immediate goal is to excel in my academic program and gain experience through research and practical activities at the university. In the future, I plan to pursue a Master’s degree abroad.”
Nguyen Ni Muon, a former student of Nguyen Tran High School (Binh Dinh), is among the highest-scoring new students at HCMUTE. With 28.00 points in the A00 combination, he was admitted to the Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering program in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, earning the title of second-highest scorer for 2024.
Ni Muon expressed his excitement:
“When I saw my results, my family and I were thrilled because it’s a relatively high score. Getting admitted to HCMUTE, a school I’ve dreamed of, was a great joy. However, I didn’t expect to earn the title of runner-up since HCMUTE is known for its competitive admission standards.”
Like Phi Bao, Ni Muon faced significant challenges during his exam preparation, sacrificing personal time to focus entirely on studying.
“There were times I felt tired and stressed, but the encouragement from my teachers, family, and friends helped me persevere,” he said.
When asked why he chose Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering, Ni Muon explained:
“I learned about HCMUTE from alumni who visited my high school. After researching, I was impressed by the university’s multidisciplinary offerings, particularly its strengths in engineering. That’s why I chose HCMUTE. Now that I’m here, I find it a dynamic and modern environment, truly deserving of its reputation.”
In the future, Ni Muon plans to continue learning and growing in his chosen field. Alongside academic pursuits, he aims to develop his skills, participate in extracurricular activities, and engage in social programs. His ultimate goal is to work for an international or multinational corporation after graduation.
HCMUTE – A Nurturing Ground for Talent
Despite their different backgrounds, both Phi Bao and Ni Muon share a common belief in HCMUTE as the perfect place to grow and achieve their goals. They are impressed by the university’s modern facilities, including advanced labs, workshops, and innovative classrooms. They also value the dynamic, creative, and supportive environment, which offers abundant opportunities for students to develop soft skills and critical thinking.
HCMUTE provides students with opportunities to participate in scientific research projects, academic competitions, and diverse extracurricular activities. With its focus on both academic excellence and practical skills, HCMUTE continues to affirm its position as a leading institution in engineering and technology education. The choices of top and second-highest scorers like Nguyễn Phi Bảo and Nguyễn Ni Muộn are clear testaments to the university’s reputation and training quality.
Both students received scholarships for their achievements. In addition to the top and runner-up scholarships, they were also awarded merit-based scholarships for scoring over 26 points in the admission exam. Each point corresponds to 1 million VND, resulting in 28.25 million VND for Phi Bảo and 28 million VND for Ni Muon.
