On the afternoon of September 6, 2024, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) warmly welcomed Comrade Nguyen Manh Cuong Committee, along with a delegation from Binh Phuoc Province.
This meeting marks a significant step forward in the joint efforts to develop a network of high-quality education and workforce training for Binh Phuoc Province while aligning with the strategic growth plans of HCMUTE. Previously, both parties held numerous discussions and established two working groups to draft a proposal for setting up an HCMUTE branch campus in Bình Phước, facilitating the expansion and development of higher education in the region.
The meeting was attended by HCMUTE representatives, including Dr. Trương Thị Hiền, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairwoman of the University Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lê Hiếu Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Acting Rector; as well as members of the Party Committee and leaders from various faculties and functional departments.
The Binh Phuoc delegation included Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Ms. Trần Tuyết Minh, Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee, and Head of the Working Group; Mr. Lý Thanh Tâm, Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee and Director of the Department of Education and Training, as Deputy Head of the Working Group; and representatives from various departments, agencies, and Đồng Xoài City.
During the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang expressed excitement about the collaboration between HCMUTE and Bình Phước Province in formulating detailed plans. He emphasized the importance of establishing the branch campus, not only to meet the local training demands but also as part of the national higher education development strategy, with strong support from the Ministry of Education and Training.
Ms. Tran Tuyet Minh shared her positive impression of HCMUTE's modern facilities and extensive training programs. She highlighted that HCMUTE is among the leading and most prestigious universities in Vietnam, particularly in technical education, with programs well-suited to Binh Phuoc's industrial workforce development needs.
Regarding the establishment of the HCMUTE branch campus in Bình Phước, Mr. Nguyễn Mạnh Cường underscored the critical role of human capital in economic development. He emphasized that enhancing higher education quality is vital for maximizing this potential. Therefore, the provincial leadership hopes the meeting will lead to a consensus on key issues, paving the way for the swift establishment of the HCMUTE branch campus in Bình Phước, contributing to the region's overall development.
Discussions focused on key steps needed to implement the proposal successfully, including land allocation, infrastructure development, and related legal procedures. Both parties agreed that the branch campus would address the urgent need for high-quality workforce training in Bình Phước, driving local socio-economic development.
HCMUTE and Bình Phước representatives committed to closely coordinating efforts to accelerate the proposal's progress. The shared goal is to complete all procedures and infrastructure, enabling the branch campus to begin enrolling students by 2025. Regular communication and feedback will be maintained to ensure smooth and efficient implementation.
The establishment of the HCMUTE branch campus in Binh Phuoc is not only a strategic collaboration milestone but also a significant achievement in local education development. It promises new opportunities for high-quality workforce training, contributing to a sustainable future for the province and neighboring regions.
