On the morning of August 22, 2025, at Meeting Room 1, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) welcomed and held a working session with the Education Counselor of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City. The meeting aimed to expand international cooperation between HCMUTE and educational partners in Taiwan, particularly in key fields such as semiconductors, IC design, and financial technology, while also enhancing opportunities for academic exchange, joint research, and international scholarship programs for students and faculty.
Attending the meeting on behalf of HCMUTE were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le My Ha – Vice Dean in charge of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Truong Dinh Nhon – Dean of the Faculty of International Education, Dr. Mai Duc Dai – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, M.Eng. Pham Bach Duong– Head of the Office of International Affairs, M.Eng. Nguyen Thoi– Deputy Head of the Office of International Affairs and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Huy Tuan – Deputy Head in charge of the Office of Testing and Quality Assurance. Representing the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office was Prof. Wei-Chih Lin – Education Counselor.
At the session, HCMUTE representatives emphasized the university’s position as one of the Top 5 key universities in engineering and technology in Vietnam, while also presenting its vision and development strategy. HCMUTE is currently focused on building a highly qualified workforce in high-tech fields, especially semiconductors, IC design, and financial technology—areas where Taiwan holds leading strengths in the region and globally. The discussion opened up several practical directions for cooperation, including implementing student and faculty exchange programs, developing short-term training courses, expanding master’s and doctoral scholarship opportunities at prestigious Taiwanese universities, organizing specialized workshops and seminars with Taiwanese experts, and fostering joint research in high-tech fields that contribute to sustainable development.
A highlight of the meeting was the direct exchange between Prof. Wei-Chih Lin and HCMUTE students. With openness and warmth, he shared detailed information about short-term courses in Taiwan, scholarship criteria for internships and postgraduate studies, as well as requirements for international PhD candidates. He also offered practical advice on language preparation, research skills, and proactive attitudes—key factors for students to succeed in an international learning environment. His sincere experiences and advice inspired the students and provided them with a more comprehensive view of the learning, research, and career development opportunities in Taiwan—a country known as Asia’s leading technology hub.
