After the intense rounds from 11th to 12th of March, 2023 with 170 athletes from 24 units of Southern Regional University, HCMUTE Open Badminton Tournament for True English Educator 2023 was officially closed with many emotions along with the successes of the players. This year's tournament was co-organized by True English Educator, Kamito and Physical Education and National Defense Education Center, HCMUTE with the desire to bring a healthy and rewarding sport playground to students. Representatives from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, the host, brought home 01 Gold Medal (Men's singles); 01 Bronze medal (Men's singles); 01 Silver medal (Men's doubles). In addition, the top prizes of the tournament were determined as follows:
1. Men's singles
- Gold Medal: Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education
- Silver Medal: University of Science and Technology, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City;
- Bronze Medal: Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education and An Giang University.
2. Men's doubles
- Gold Medal: Ho Chi Minh University of Banking;
- Silver Medal: Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education;
- Bronze Medal: Van Lang University and University of Science and Technology, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.
3. Women's Doubles
- Gold Medal: Ho Chi Minh University of Banking;
- Silver Medal: University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City
- Bronze Medal: Foreign Trade University (Campus II in Ho Chi Minh City) and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.
4. Mixed doubles
- Gold Medal: Van Lang University
- Silver Medal: Ton Duc Thang University
- Bronze Medal: Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology
Representing HCMUTE Badminton Club, Mr. Do Thanh Dat – Club Leader shared: “Regarding the organization, the tournament has been prepared and planned since January 2023. Therefore, all the facilities are ready for the tournament to take place. The competition quality from round 2 onwards is balanced. In each branch of the competition, there are matches that are intense enough to attract viewers and promote the true meaning of the tournament. Being the host, HCMUTE is not too strong in the Women's side, but the teams still entered the second round of the tournament. The men's teams excellently brought back 03 medals.”
Despite being held for the first time, the tournament has successfully promoted sports training, talents, the importance of health improvement. It also creates an exciting playground for student to compete and exchange as well as increases solidarity and mutual understanding between universities and students. The success of the first tournament will be a solid basis to develop its reputation among students.
