On the morning of December 1, 2022, after three days of active and productive work (from November 29, 2022 to December 1, 2022), the external evaluation team of the ASEAN University Network (AUN) concluded the 305th external assessment of the quality of training programs according to AUN-QA standards for four training programs at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) Accounting, Biomedical Engineering, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and Chemical Engineering Technology are the four training programs. At this event, HCMUTE was lauded for developing sophisticated programs, catching up with the technological trend of the 4.0 age, and establishing a creative and dynamic learning environment. In addition, the University received constructive suggestions and proposals from a team of specialists that will contribute to future enhancements.

The final session was attended by ten members of the AUN-QA Evaluation Team, led by Prof. Dr. Wan Ahmad Kamil Mahmood (Universiti Sains Malaysia), and 02 observers from Lac Hong University. On behalf of the school's leadership board, there was the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang – Vice Rector in charge of the school, Dr. Truong Thi Hien – Vice-Rector of the University, representative of the HCMUTE Party Committee, Trade Union; Deans of Faculty; Centers; Rooms; Departments; lecturers, and all students of HCMUTE.

 

The final session for the AUN-QA-accredited external evaluation of training programs 

 

In his remarks at the ceremony's conclusion,  Assoc. Prof .Dr. Le Hieu Giang, the school's Vice Rector, expressed appreciation for the external assessors' passionate, serious, and professional working spirit. Staff and lecturers at the University will be encouraged and motivated by the comments and assessments on the strengths and contents that need improving in the programs. Therefore, this will help to further improve the quality of teaching and training. In addition, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang has stated that he will enhance the current strengths and address the current weaknesses in order to better satisfy the societal demands in the trend of integration through training.

Prof. Dr. Wan Ahmad Kamil Mahmood gave closing remarks summarizing evaluation events, during which he gave excellent marks to HCMUTE for its efforts and praised the way in which they coordinated the organization of relevant units and individuals. The Professor acknowledges and values the University's contributions to the growth of AUN-QA, as well as the University's positive spirit, attitude, and collaboration in assuring the quality of education in the ASEAN region. He is confident that the positive feedback from the most recent reviews will help the university strengthen its training programs, confirm its significance to the national economy, and establish its reputation on a global scale.

 

 Prof. Dr. Wan Ahmad Kamil Mahmood gave summary remarks 

 

The evaluation team delivered remarks on the strengths of the 04 training programs and key recommendations to help the Faculties improve training quality. The program should: be regularly updated based on feedback from stakeholders like businesses, alumni, faculty, and students; has a group of highly qualified and experienced lecturers who are committed to teaching and enthusiastic with students; ensures a high employment rate for graduates; use a variety of teaching and assessment methods; has training programs that work in tandem with businesses to train students through internships and Business thematic subjects; guarantees a high level of English proficiency among students and alumni; and be offered a variety of services to support students in learning and daily life.

 

 

An expert representative conducted a preliminary review of 04 training programs

 

It is hoped that HCMUTE will continue to get the accomplishments from AUN-QA for these 04 training programs, bringing the total number of training programs evaluated in accordance with AUN-QA to 18. Then, in the near future, there are plans to evaluate more training programs and university-level assessments. HCMUTE has taken steps to improve its standing on the road to global and ASEAN integration by implementing an assessment of training programs in accordance with AUN-QA.
