In a solemn and celebratory atmosphere, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCM-UTE, formerly Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education) held its July 2026 Graduation Ceremony on July 25–26, 2026 for doctoral candidates, master's students, and undergraduate students enrolled in both full-time and part-time programs. The ceremony honored the graduates' years of dedication to learning, research, and personal development while marking the beginning of a new chapter in their academic and professional journeys.

The ceremony was held over four sessions, each attended by members of the University leadership, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang, President of HCM-UTE; Dr. Truong Thi Hien, Standing Vice President; Vice Presidents Dr. Quach Thanh Hai and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chau Dinh Thanh; together with deans, directors, faculty members, graduates, and their families and friends.

In his speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang, President of HCM-UTE, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the graduates on successfully completing an important milestone in their academic journey. He remarked: "Graduation is always a significant milestone. The degree you receive today is not only a recognition of your years of dedication, perseverance, and personal growth, but also the beginning of a new journey filled with opportunities, challenges, and responsibilities."

He emphasized that the true value of education extends beyond the acquisition of knowledge. It also lies in cultivating a lifelong passion for learning and a commitment to continuous self-improvement. In a rapidly changing world, the ability to learn, adapt, and innovate is essential for sustainable success. He encouraged the graduates to uphold integrity, professional ethics, and a strong sense of social responsibility while continuing to embody the values of HCM-UTE through professional excellence, creativity, and meaningful contributions to society.

During the July 2026 Graduation Ceremony, HCM-UTE conferred degrees upon 9 doctoral graduates, 266 master's graduates, and 2,529 architects, engineers, and bachelor's graduates, bringing the total number of graduates to 2,804. Each degree represents not only years of perseverance and academic achievement but also the unwavering support of families, the dedication of faculty members, and the University's ongoing commitment to providing a high-quality learning environment.

As part of the ceremony, the University recognized and honored students with outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements, valedictorians of each academic program, and students who graduated ahead of schedule with exceptional performance. These awards celebrated individuals whose hard work, determination, and excellence have inspired a culture of learning, innovation, and achievement across the University.

With more than 30,000 students, HCM-UTE currently offers 52 undergraduate programs, 18 master's programs, and 12 doctoral programs, in addition to a wide range of international and part-time academic programs. About the University's Name Change

On December 26, 2025, the Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Decision No. 2809/QĐ-TTg, officially changing the University's name from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCM-UTE). The new name reflects the University's evolution into a multidisciplinary institution with recognized strengths in technology and engineering and its vision for future development.

Before 2007, the University was widely recognized as Vietnam's leading institution for technical teacher education. Following changes to the national higher education classification system in 2007, HCM-UTE expanded its academic portfolio with a strong emphasis on technology, engineering, and related disciplines. The name change aligns with Vietnam's Higher Education Network Development Plan for 2021–2030, with a Vision toward 2050, responds to the growing demand for high-quality human resources in the era of digital transformation, and reaffirms HCM-UTE's role as one of Vietnam's key national universities in technology and engineering.
