In an effort to further strengthen international cooperation in education, scientific research, and academic exchange, on the morning of June 4, 2026, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCM-UTE), formerly Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, held a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony with Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), India.
The meeting marked a new milestone in the partnership between the two universities and opened up numerous opportunities for collaborative research, faculty and student exchanges, and the development of international academic programs in the years ahead. The agreement serves as an important foundation for promoting academic activities, research, and innovation between two higher education institutions with strong expertise in science, technology, and engineering.
Representing HCM-UTE at the signing ceremony were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang, President of the University; Mr. Nguyen Thoi, M.A., Deputy Head of the International Relations Office; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le My Ha, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering; and faculty members from the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Representing KIIT were Professor Saranjit Singh, Vice Chancellor; Dr. Chinmay Chakraborty, Head of the Centre for Biomedical Technology Innovation and Research; Professor Sarbeswar Mohanty, Director of KIIT School of Rural Management; along with professors and experts from KIIT.

In his welcome remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang expressed his pleasure in receiving the KIIT delegation at HCM-UTE. He emphasized that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding represents an important milestone in strengthening academic cooperation between the two institutions while laying the groundwork for future research collaborations, faculty and student exchanges, and international projects.

During the meeting, both parties signed the Memorandum of Understanding to promote cooperation in education, scientific research, and innovation. Discussions focused on implementing joint research programs, particularly in light of upcoming bilateral research funding initiatives between Vietnam and India. This presents a valuable opportunity for researchers from both universities to jointly develop projects with significant academic and practical impact.
In addition, the two institutions explored opportunities for researcher exchange programs and co-supervision of doctoral candidates through both online and in-person formats. They also discussed potential sources of research funding from industry partners, governments, international organizations, and internal university research funds, including research projects designed for students.

Regarding student exchange activities, KIIT expressed its interest in sending postgraduate students from Computer Science, Cybersecurity, FinTech, and related disciplines to HCM-UTE for industry internships in Vietnam. The two sides also discussed short-term exchange programs ranging from one month to one semester, enabling students to study abroad, complete graduation projects, or transfer academic credits between the two institutions.

Through this collaboration, HCM-UTE and KIIT aim to establish a sustainable partnership that will advance scientific research, strengthen international academic connections, and broaden educational opportunities for students and faculty members from both institutions. Furthermore, the cooperation is expected to contribute to deepening educational and research ties between Vietnam and India in the context of increasing global integration.
Representatives from KIIT’s Centre for Biomedical Technology Innovation and Research also introduced the center’s key research directions, international collaboration opportunities, and the potential for developing joint research projects between scientists from both universities.
The signing ceremony with Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology further demonstrates HCM-UTE’s commitment to advancing the internationalization of higher education, expanding its network of strategic partners, and creating greater opportunities for learning, research, and professional development for faculty members and students in a global academic environment.
