On June 16, 2026, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCM-UTE, formerly Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education) attended the inauguration ceremony of the Binh Minh Plastics Training Center (BMP Academy) and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Binh Minh Plastics Joint Stock Company. The event marked another significant milestone in the University’s strategy of strengthening industry engagement, aimed at enhancing the quality of education, applied research, and the development of highly skilled technical human resources to meet the growing demands of the labor market.
Amid rapid urbanization, infrastructure investment, and the increasing development of green and sustainable construction projects, the demand for highly qualified engineers and technical professionals continues to rise. This trend places an urgent responsibility on higher education institutions to innovate training approaches, strengthen partnerships with industry, and provide students with early exposure to real-world professional environments.
Held under the theme “Flowing Knowledge – Connecting Future Experts” BMP Academy was established with the vision of becoming a bridge between academia, industry, and real-world construction environments. More than a specialized training center, BMP Academy aims to standardize industry knowledge, enhance professional competencies, and contribute to the development of a new generation of engineers, specialists, and skilled technical personnel for Vietnam’s construction plastics industry.

Representing HCM-UTE at the event were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chau Dinh Thanh, Vice President of the University, along with leaders from several faculties and administrative departments. Representing Binh Minh Plastics JSC were Mr. Niwat Athiwattananont, Chief Executive Officer, members of the company’s management board, and industry partners.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Niwat Athiwattananont stated that the launch of BMP Academy marks a new chapter in Binh Minh Plastics’ nearly 50-year journey of growth and development. According to him, in addition to delivering products that meet the highest quality standards, the company has always regarded investment in people as the foundation for sustainable development. BMP Academy was therefore established to create a training environment closely linked to industrial practice, helping learners strengthen both technical expertise and professional skills. The center not only enables students to gain practical knowledge at an earlier stage but also provides engineers, contractors, and technical professionals with opportunities to stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends, thereby meeting the evolving demands of the sector.
As part of the program, HCM-UTE and Binh Minh Plastics JSC officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote collaboration in education, applied research, professional training, industrial visits, and student engagement with real-world production environments.
Commenting on the significance of this partnership model, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chau Dinh Thanh, Vice President of HCM-UTE, emphasized that close collaboration between universities and businesses has become an essential approach to improving the quality of human resource development in today’s context. Over the years, HCM-UTE and Binh Minh Plastics have jointly implemented numerous practical initiatives, providing students with valuable opportunities to learn, gain hands-on experience, and engage directly with professional workplaces. Furthermore, industry collaboration enables faculty members to stay abreast of advanced technologies, innovative solutions, and modern technical standards, thereby continuously updating curricula to better align with labor market needs.
In particular, academic programs related to construction, environmental engineering, technical infrastructure, and water supply and drainage at HCM-UTE are expected to benefit directly from this partnership. Access to piping systems, construction processes, and real-world technical standards will help students gain a deeper understanding of industry requirements, strengthen their professional competencies, and improve their readiness for future careers.

As an application-oriented university, HCM-UTE consistently identifies industry collaboration as one of its key strategic priorities for enhancing educational quality. Through its continually expanding network of domestic and international partners, the University creates opportunities for students to learn in practice-based environments while increasing access to internships, employment opportunities, and professional development pathways.
The establishment of BMP Academy further supports HCM-UTE students by providing experiential learning opportunities that enhance both technical knowledge and practical skills within a corporate setting. Under its development plan for the 2026–2028 period, the center will organize site visits, hands-on training programs, and internship opportunities for students while expanding professional exchanges with businesses, industry experts, and organizations operating in the fields of technical infrastructure and water management. At BMP Academy, learners will have direct access to technical models, materials, and operational processes that closely reflect real industry conditions. The integration of classroom learning with practical experience is expected to contribute significantly to the development of engineers who possess strong technical expertise, innovative thinking, and a high capacity for adapting to technological change.
Built upon three core values—Connecting, Setting Standards, and Shaping Sustainability—BMP Academy focuses not only on technical education but also on integrating topics related to green materials, efficient resource utilization, and sustainable infrastructure development. As construction quality, technical standards, and sustainability become increasingly important priorities, HCM-UTE’s continued collaboration with pioneering enterprises such as Binh Minh Plastics helps narrow the gap between academic training and industry practice while creating additional opportunities for students to develop comprehensive professional competencies.
