The delegation from HO CHI MINH CITY UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY AND EDUCATION (HCMUTE) participated in the 12th National Student Chemistry Olympiad with 16 students.

From April 15 to 19, 2025, the 12th National Student Chemistry Olympiad took place at the UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY – VIETNAM NATIONAL UNIVERSITY, HO CHI MINH CITY (VNU-HCM), attracting 316 students from 45 universities and academies nationwide.

The competition was organized by the MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING, in collaboration with the VIETNAM UNION OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ASSOCIATIONS, the VIETNAM CHEMICAL SOCIETY, and hosted by the UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, VNU-HCM. As an academic platform for students passionate about chemistry, the Olympiad aims to foster education and scientific research among students. Since its inception in 2003, the competition has expanded in scale and improved in academic quality, becoming a prestigious national academic event for chemistry enthusiasts.

This year’s exam was innovatively designed to balance theory and practice, covering advanced areas such as GENERAL CHEMISTRY, INORGANIC CHEMISTRY, ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY, ORGANIC CHEMISTRY, and GREEN CHEMISTRY. The competition consisted of two parts: a 180-minute theoretical exam and a 120-minute practical exam, conducted with professionalism, fairness, and transparency. Students were grouped into three categories: GROUP A for chemistry majors, GROUP B for non-chemistry science majors, and GROUP C for non-science majors.
HCMUTE’s team competed across all three categories with all 16 students winning awards. Specifically:
In GROUP A (Chemistry majors), student LE TRONG PHUC won Third Prize, while LE THANH HUY, LE MINH QUYET, NGUYEN THANH BEN, and LE NHAT YEN received Consolation Prizes.
In GROUP B (non-chemistry science majors), TANG TAN DAT and DINH NHAT HAO each earned a Third Prize, and TRANG VO MANH NGUYEN, NGUYEN MINH TRONG, PHAN LE ANH LAM, NGUYEN CAM HUONG, NGUYEN NGOC DUY AN, and HUYNH VO BAO NHI secured Consolation Prizes.
In GROUP C (non-science majors), NGUYEN NI MUON won a Second Prize, while NGUYEN THI TUONG VY and HO VAN KHANH received Consolation Prizes.
SUMMARY OF AWARDS:
GROUP A: 1 Third Prize, 4 Consolation Prizes
GROUP B: 2 Third Prizes, 6 Consolation Prizes
GROUP C: 1 Second Prize, 2 Consolation Prizes
The HCMUTE Chemistry Olympiad team was led by DR. NGUYEN PHAT DAT, Head of Delegation and member of the Judging Panel, with two Deputy Heads: DR. NGUYEN VAN QUY and DR. NGUYEN THANH SANG. The coaching team also included ASSOC. PROF. DR. HOANG MINH HAO, ASSOC. PROF. DR. NGUYEN VINH TIEN, DR. NGUYEN TIEN GIANG, and ASSOC. PROF. DR. PHAN THI ANH DAO.
This outstanding achievement at the 12th National Student Chemistry Olympiad 2025 is a testament to the high quality of education at HCMUTE, particularly within the FACULTY OF CHEMICAL AND FOOD TECHNOLOGY. It serves not only as a source of pride but also as motivation for the university to continue promoting academic excellence and scientific research, contributing to the advancement of higher education and integration into the global scientific and technological community.
