On the morning of April 21, 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) organized a festive gathering to celebrate the traditional Bunpimay and Chol Chnam Thmay New Year festivals for Lao and Cambodian international students currently studying at the university. This annual event aims to create a warm, festive atmosphere for students far from home, while further strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and its neighboring countries.

The event was attended by Dr. Quach Thanh Hai – Vice President of HCMUTE; leaders from the Admissions and Student Affairs Office, the Dormitory Management Board, the Youth Union – Student Association; as well as faculty representatives from departments with international students.

In his remarks, Dr. Quach Thanh Hai extended New Year greetings to the students and emphasized that the university is always committed to supporting and accompanying them throughout their academic and daily life journey at HCMUTE.

During the gathering, the university also presented lucky money envelopes as a symbolic gesture of goodwill, care, and solidarity. The joy was evident on the students' faces as they celebrated their traditional New Year in a warm, family-like environment.

 

In a lively atmosphere, lecturers and students took part in the traditional string-tying ceremony, a cultural ritual that symbolizes blessings of good health, peace, and good fortune in the coming year.

The celebration concluded with heartfelt conversations and laughter, as lecturers and international students shared stories about life and studies, and extended warm New Year wishes to one another. Through this program, HCMUTE continues to affirm its role as a friendly, welcoming home for generations of international students studying in Vietnam.
