In the afternoon of November 15th, 2018, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thien Nhan (Politburo member, HCMC Municipal Party Secretary) and the delegation paid a working visit to HCMC University of Technology and Education leaders and lecturers with the aim of discussing about the creative innovation between colleges and enterprises.

At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr Do Van Dung (Party Committee Secretary, President of HCMUTE) reported about the success in the university’s teaching innovation when taking the educational philosophy as Humanity - Innovation - Integration as the pioneering direction. The leaders of university have always listened and understood students as well as taken their benefits as the priority; thereby helping students get better views about the environment they are studying, raising their learning productivity. Typically, HCMUTE has equipped students with the Self-study area, High-quality library, Creative Space, Opened Space or Compassion Corner, etc. The school has had 8 programs that were qualified for AUN-QA international standards and has been the 3rd university in Vietnam to meet the regional standards. These achievements have proved that the school’s five-year innovation has been gaining great success so far. The Press and Media work is also a highlight with the UTE-TV channel, the first university television channel, allowing students as well as parents to rapidly catch up with the latest news from the school.

In term of innovation and creativity, the school has been consecutively achieving some great success with the products created by students themselves and awarding many rewards in many scientific research competitions. Apart from building the creative space for students to carry out their creative ideas, the school has established the Faculty of Creativity and Start-up to support and promote all creative ideas of both students and lecturers inside and outside the campus. UTE has kept creating many valuable products that have been transferred technology and put them into practice such as the Pho/ bread/ milktea automatic selling machine, Javi coffee machine, Ms.Ba robot, receptionist robot or the fresh vegetable cabinet, etc. To accomplish these inventions, students not only use their creativity but also apply their knowledge from different majors. Besides, they have to have great teamwork skill. In November, the school is going to cooperate with HTV channel to host the first Robot Fight Contest in Vietnam.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Van Dzung, last year, HCMUTE had 8 programs qualified the AUN - QA standard of the ASEAN Universities Network. The school receives 4800 to 5000 students, and the qualified point is increasing over years. In particular, in the previous University Entrance Examination, there are 65000 applications applied to HCMUTE.
Dr. Nguyen Ba Hai, Dean of School of Innovation and entrepreneurship assumed that the failure in start-up process was unavoidable, but the key was that we have to persist with our idea and pursue our dream. Particularly, University of Technology and Education has provided students and lecturers with all the facilitation for carrying out research and developing more effective products to serve the enterprises, community and the country. In addition, the innovation of entrepreneurs in the last year has assisted them to have a different view on UTE students’ ability to have the proper investing plan.
“Uberize the education” model shared by Mr. Do Van Dung has made a great impact on the public
Also in the meeting, Mr. Do Van Dzung - The President of HCMUTE shared the “Uberize the education” model with the desire of connecting the regional universities. Based on this model, universities can share the potential and students are able to travel to many schools flexibly, which not only decreases the city traffic congestion but also enables students to share laboratories and libraries. Sharing these facilities optimizes economic resources, and gives students the chance to experience different laboratories and libraries. The Municipal Party Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan assumed this model, an extremely great attraction, to be put into practice as soon as possible.

To end the working visit, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan, the HCMC Municipal Party Secretary paid a visit to UTE ‘s digital learning center, the Self-study area, the Opened Space, the Shared Space and other technological products invented by students and lecturers.

The HCMC Municipal Nguyen Thien Nhan recognised the significant achievements of HCMUTE lately. Some products studied and invented by students and lecturers of the university are ordered by businesses. With the high evaluation towards the ideas and development orientation, he suggested that the city related units should actively support HCMUTE in registering for the intellectual property as well as the copyright of researches and inventions.

After having a hospitable meeting with HCMUTE students, The HCMC Municipal Party Secretary also showed his belief in the future that the students, with great efforts, would gain certain success in life.
