On the afternoon of September 11th, 2018, Toyota Vietnam Foundation (TVF) in cooperation with HCMC University of Technology and Education solemnly held the graduation ceremony of the first course and opened the second course of "Vocational Scholarship Program Toyota" at the Hall of section A, HCMC University of Technology and Education.


Attending the ceremony, on behalf of the university’s leaders are Assoc. Prof.Le Hieu Giang – Vice Principal of HCMC University of Technology and Education and MA. Bui Van Hong - Director of Institute of Technology and Education - UTE. 

On behalf of Toyota Vietnam Foundation, Mr. Toru Kinoshita - Honorary Chairman of Toyota Vietnam Foundation, Ms. Do Thu Hoang - President of Toyota Vietnam Foundation, Mr. Shinjiro Kajikawa - Director of Toyota Vietnam Foundation, the representative of Toyota Finance Service - Mr. Hiromi Ito - General Director of the company.

On behalf of Toyota Vietnam, there were Mr. Akihiko Sato - General Director of Toyota Hiroshima Tan Cang Ltd., Mr. Huynh Van Sang - General Director of Toyota East Saigon Corporation, Mr. Huynh Tien Vu - General Director of Toyota An Sương Company Limited, Mr. Nguyen Tran Tien Dung - General Director of Toyota An Thanh Fukushima Company Ltd. Co, Mr. Duong Thanh Binh - General Director of Toyota Ly Thuong Kiet Ltd. Co, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dung - Deputy Director of Toyota Ben Thanh Corporation, Mr. Duong Thanh Hieu, Deputy General Director of Toyota Tsusho Saigon Automobile Ltd. Co, Mr.Le Minh Tri - Vice General Director pf Phu My Hung Toyota Ltd. Co, and especially, the presence of students of Course 1 and 2 with their guardians and parents.

Giving a speech to close the study course, Dr. Bui Van Hong - General Director of the Technology and Education Institute shared the Toyota Vocational Scholarship Program, which was a program for students with special backgrounds but with a passion for learning. The scholarship would be funded by Toyota. Toyota in cooperation with Faculty of Vehicle and Energy Engineering would provide the most favourable conditions to train students in automotive knowledge, B2 driving license, soft skills, communication skills and especially English proficiency to make sure they have solid skills to apply in their future career.

 
Dr. Bui Van Hong gave a summary of Course 1    

As Course 1 (8/2016 - 8/2018) ended, the program has been successfully implemented with 24 graduates, including 2 excellent students (8.3%), 6 good students (25%), 15 averagely good students (62.5%), and one average student (4.16%) and none of them was below average. Especially, 10 of them have been recruited to work in Toyota agencies in the South and some other enterprises.

Ms.To Huynh Nhu, Course 1's class monitor represented her classmates to give a speech: "I sincerely  thank the project for creating favorable conditions of studying and accommodation for disadvantaged students to provide us with the opportunity to study and pursue our passion along with specialized skills, soft skills, job interviews. I want to remind the students of Course 2 that they should nurture their passion for automotive, pursue their dreams with everything they have and wish them have a lot of success."

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Toru Kinoshita, Honorary Chairman of Toyota Vietnam Foundation of TVF Fund said, "With the motto of human training and human resource, the fund has proposed scholarships for students who have difficult living conditions but with a passion for automotive industry, dreams of a better life and social development since 2016. Congratulations to the first-generation students who have had a good record of being recruited by Toyota, and we will continue to support the rest of students to find the right job. "

In the opening ceremony of Course 2, Assoc. Prof.Le Hieu Giang – Vice Principal of HCMC University of Technology and Education said: "The society is growing, students need to be trained with new and modern educational options. However, tuition is always a concern for families in difficult circumstances, there are cases which many families have to end their children's educational path. Since then, with the support from Toyota, the sponsors and the university has created conditions for them to study and work in the university."

After the application process, the university has filtered 25 students who met the criteria and conditions set by the program for Course 2. Providing valuable scholarships as prior investments is a way to help them begin the path of becoming engineers, useful people in the society.

Le Thuan Binh An, the representative of students of Course 2 shared their gratitude towards the Toyota scholarships which would help them have the opportunity to access new technology, satisfy their passion, realize their learning goals.It was the opportunity that University of Technology and Education and the Toyota Foundation have supported, but it would also be a responsibility that every one of the students must always remember and work hard to pursue to the end so as not to disappoint their parents, the university and sponsors.
 
Representatives of Course 1 and 2 give flowers to the university administrators and project executives.

"Toyota Vocational Scholarship Program" was a two-year vocational training support program for students who have graduated from high school, had good academic achievements but were in a particularly difficult situation. This was the second course that the program would be implemented in the aim that the students would study well to become talented engineers and contribute their talent to the society.
