In the morning of February 6th, HCMUTE held a ceremony conferring the Honorary Doctorate on Mr. Ted Osius, who was the former United States Ambassador to Vietnam and is currently the Vice-President of Fulbright University Vietnam (FUV).
Speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Van Dung, the President of HCMUTE, would like to send his sincere gratitude to Mr. Ted Osius, the former United States Ambassador. Mr. Dung stated that, in the last 10 years, through strong support from the United States Embassy and the former Ambassador himself, the HCMUTE has strengthened their cooperation with many partners from the United States, which has resulted in the development of the university and a great number of achievements. By organizing the Higher Engineering Education Alliance Program (HEEAP) and the Vocational and University Leadership and Innovation Institute (VULII), the United States Embassy provided opportunities for 43 lecturers of the HCMUTE to participate in a 6-week training program at the Arizona State University (U.S.A.), where they were trained for improvements to teaching methodology, training program development, assessment methodology and reinforcement, preparation for leader and quality recognitions.
Mr. Ted Osius also expressed his honor to be the sixth honorary doctor in the 55-year history of the HCMUTE. The former Ambassador highly appreciated the university’s effort in building and developing itself to be a leading technical training institute in Vietnam.
In his new position as the Vice President of the Fulbright University Vietnam, Mr. Ted Osius informed that he would continue to reinforce the maximum cooperation with the HCMUTE in enhancing the training quality of both schools as well as to help maximize the potential of the new generations of students in Vietnam, who are said to be very intelligent, hard-working, optimistic and especially talented.
