On the morning of September 16, 2025, at Meeting Room 3, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) welcomed a delegation from National Formosa University (NFU, Taiwan) to introduce scholarship programs and study opportunities for HCMUTE students.
The NFU delegation included Prof. Ian Yang – Vice President, Prof. Jo-Yu (Frank) Wang – Head of the International Relations Office, along with other officials, who directly shared important information about scholarships, training programs, and career prospects in Taiwan.
Representing HCMUTE were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chau Dinh Thanh – Vice President, together with leaders from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Faculty of Information Technology, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Foreign Languages, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Faculty of International Education, and the Office of International Affairs.

Scholarships and Attractive Training Programs
During the session, NFU representatives presented detailed information on international scholarship programs. HCMUTE students have the opportunity to receive full tuition waivers along with a monthly living allowance ranging from 6,000 to 12,000 NTD depending on the level of study.
In addition, NFU also offers various special training programs such as:
• INTENSE Program (International Industrial Talents Education Special Program): A master’s program in Smart Automation combined with company internships. Students receive a tuition waiver for the first year and a monthly stipend of 10,000 NTD from partner companies, with opportunities to work in Taiwan for at least two years after graduation.
• Formosa Talent Internship Program (FTIP): Short-term internships in NFU’s modern research centers and laboratories.
• TEEP – Formosa TIP Short-Term Exchange Program: A combination of study, research, internships, and cultural experiences in Taiwan.

NFU currently has over 12,000 students, 18 master’s programs, and 3 doctoral programs, with strong expertise in engineering and technology, particularly in mechanical engineering, electronics, and aeronautics.
After the presentations, HCMUTE students engaged in direct discussions, asking questions about admission requirements, language proficiency (IELTS 5.0 or TOEIC 550 and above), scholarships, and career opportunities in Taiwan. NFU representatives provided thorough answers, helping students gain a clearer understanding of international study and career pathways.

Strengthening Cooperation between HCMUTE and NFU
The scholarship introduction workshop not only opened new study and career opportunities for HCMUTE students but also helped strengthen the cooperative relationship between HCMUTE and NFU. Both sides discussed new areas of collaboration in training, scientific research, student and faculty exchanges, joint research (particularly in drone applications for emergency rescue operations during disasters, accidents, and missing person searches), and co-supervision of graduation theses, aiming toward long-term partnership programs.
Upcoming Collaborative Activities
• Faculty Exchange: NFU will send one professor to HCMUTE in October 2025 to deliver specialized seminars for students on semiconductor technology and automation, while also guiding research groups and supporting the development of HCMUTE’s Journal of Technical Education (JTE).
• Industry Collaboration: NFU will support HCMUTE in connecting with TSMC to organize certificate courses for students and to further develop training programs in semiconductors and microchips.
• 1+1 Master’s Program: The two institutions will implement a joint master’s program in Business and Finance following the 1+1 model, offering high-quality bilateral study and research opportunities.
This event not only provided HCMUTE students with greater access to international scholarships and high-quality academic programs but also marked a new milestone in the strategic cooperation between HCMUTE and NFU. With its strengths as one of Taiwan’s leading universities in science and technology, particularly in aeronautics, NFU promises to become an important partner, accompanying HCMUTE in training globally competitive human resources to meet the demands of integration and sustainable development.
