On September 28, 2026, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCM-UTE, formerly Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education) took part in the 2026 University–Enterprise Cooperation Forum, organized by the Ministry of Education and Training under the theme “Connecting Training Orders for High-Quality Human Resources in Emerging Technology Sectors.” The University brought to the forum a paper sharing its model of working with enterprises to train human resources for the digital industries of southern Vietnam.

HCM-UTE was represented by Dr. Quach Thanh Hai, Vice President of the University, and Dr. Huynh Phuoc Son, Director of the Office of Enterprise Relations.
Organized by the Ministry of Education and Training at Van Lang University, the forum brought together more than 300 delegates from nearly 100 universities and colleges and nearly 60 enterprises working in information technology, artificial intelligence, finance and banking, manufacturing and logistics.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Le Quan, Deputy Minister of Education and Training, noted that the rapid development of artificial intelligence, the quantum industry and new materials is creating new demands for human resources. He said that universities and enterprises need to jointly build training approaches based on artificial intelligence, with modular curricula designed to develop specific competencies in learners.

HCM-UTE’s paper, titled “Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCM-UTE) and Enterprises Co-creating Value in Training High-Quality Human Resources for the Development of Digital Industries in Southern Vietnam,” presents the University’s network of more than 1,650 enterprises, corporations and associations, and reports that, according to a 2025 survey, 98.03% of enterprises were satisfied or very satisfied with HCM-UTE students.
The paper also outlines partnership models already in place, including Co-op internships of three to six months; the Milwaukee Power Tools Engineer Program, with 20 courses for students from their second year; 20 study places a year under a project with First Solar Vietnam Manufacturing Co., Ltd. since 2020; and laboratories sponsored by Bosch, Yaskawa, Siemens, Renesas and Deye.

During the forum, 15 cooperation agreements were signed between educational institutions and enterprises, and participants continued their discussions on workforce needs at the University to Business (U2B) roundtable session.
Cooperation with industry is an area HCM-UTE has strongly prioritized in recent years. On November 7, 2025, the University held its first Conference on Promoting Tripartite Cooperation – Partnering for Innovation and Sustainable Development, bringing together the State, universities and enterprises. The event was co-organized with Vietnam Industrial Zone (VIZ), the Ho Chi Minh City Industrial Park Business Association (HBA) and the HCMC Supporting Industry Association (HASI), and drew more than 300 delegates from the Ministry of Education and Training, government departments, universities, associations, industrial zones, enterprises and international organizations, along with 15 of the University’s key research groups and hundreds of its lecturers.
At the conference, HCM-UTE and VIZ launched an initiative to establish an Advanced Manufacturing Transformation Center to link research, application and production. The University also signed memoranda of understanding with a range of associations, organizations, industrial zones and enterprises covering training, internships, research and technology transfer, and the development of high-quality engineering talent. Together with laboratories, scholarships and training programs sponsored by enterprises, these activities are bringing industry ever more deeply into the University’s teaching and research.

About the University’s Name Change:
On December 26, 2025, the Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Decision No. 2809/QĐ-TTg, officially renaming Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCM-UTE). The new name reflects the University’s multidisciplinary development strategy, its strengths in technology and engineering, and its current institutional stature.
Before 2007, the University was Vietnam’s leading institution for technical teacher education. Following changes to the national higher education program classification system in 2007, the University expanded its focus to technology, engineering, and related disciplines. The name change aligns with Vietnam’s Higher Education Network Development Plan for 2021-2030 with a vision toward 2050, addresses the demand for high-quality human resources in the digital transformation era, and reaffirms HCM-UTE’s role as a national key university in technology and engineering.
