In the context of rapid global digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer a future trend but has become an essential tool across all sectors. To enhance technological adaptability among staff and employees, on April 8–9, 2026, at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCM-UTE), formerly known as Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, the Office of International Affairs of HCM-UTE, in collaboration with TMC Academy (Singapore), organized a training workshop titled “Applying Artificial Intelligence in the Workplace.”

Training workshop titled “Applying Artificial Intelligence in the Workplace”

The program not only provided foundational knowledge of AI but also created opportunities for participants to directly experience and apply technology in real work contexts, thereby gradually shaping a digital-age working mindset.

Attending the opening ceremony were representatives from HCM-UTE, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chau Dinh Thanh – Vice President, and Mr. Pham Bach Duong, M.A. – Director of the Office of International Affairs. A total of 41 staff members and employees from HCM-UTE participated throughout the workshop, along with representatives from the University of Transport and Communications – Ho Chi Minh City Campus, Cao Thang Technical College, and Industrial College II.

Speaking at the opening session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chau Dinh Thanh emphasized that as AI becomes increasingly integrated into work and daily life, equipping individuals with foundational knowledge, proper understanding, and responsible use of AI is an urgent necessity. The workshop is expected to help participants not only “know how to use” AI but also “use it correctly” and “use it effectively” in specific job roles.

The training was delivered by Mr. Sandan Balakrishnan, a lecturer from TMC Academy. The program was designed to balance theory and practice, focusing on key topics such as:

Overview of artificial intelligence and global development trends
Distinguishing AI, Generative AI, and modern technological tools
Skills for leveraging and applying AI in administrative and professional work
Prompt engineering techniques to optimize AI usage
Identifying risks such as misinformation, data bias, and ethical concerns

A highlight of the workshop was its intensive hands-on component, where participants directly worked with AI tools on personal computers to solve practical, job-related scenarios. This approach helped transform knowledge into tangible and sustainable skills. In reality, although AI has been widely adopted, most employees have not received formal training on how to effectively use and evaluate this technology. This gap leads to limitations in utilization and potential risks in practice. The workshop played a crucial role in narrowing this “AI knowledge gap,” enabling participants to better understand how AI works, recognize its limitations, and use it proactively, responsibly, and with proper control. This also serves as a foundation for building an “AI-ready” workforce capable of adapting and thriving in modern work environments.

The collaboration with TMC Academy (Singapore) further affirms HCM-UTE’s commitment to internationalization in education and human resource development. Through such partnerships, the university continuously updates emerging technological trends and creates opportunities for staff to access advanced global standards and training models. Notably, upon completing the program, participants will receive a certificate issued by EC-Council (USA), a globally recognized organization in IT training and certification. This certification not only acknowledges participants’ dedication to learning but also enhances their professional value and competitiveness in the context of deepening digital transformation.
