On the morning of March 28, 2026, at the Grand hall of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCM-UTE), formerly known as Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, the Institute of International Education in collaboration with partner universities, organized a seminar titled “Going global for local students” The event attracted more than 200 students, providing valuable information on study abroad programs, transfer pathways, and global career opportunities.

 

The workshop offered HCM-UTE students a valuable opportunity to directly engage with representatives from prestigious universities from the United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, South Korea, Canada, the United States, and Germany. Students also received detailed guidance on academic pathways, admission and transfer requirements, scholarships, and practical tips for preparing study abroad applications.

Attending the seminar, representatives from HCM-UTE included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chau Dinh Thanh – Vice President; Senior Lecturer M.A. Pham Bach Duong – Director of the Institute of International Education and Head of the Office of International Affairs; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Huy Tuan – Deputy Director of the Institute of International Education; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang An Quoc – Deputy Director of the Institute of International Education; Dr. Duong Tuan Tung – Dean of the Faculty of Advanced Education; and Dr. Tran Quang Tri – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Advanced Education.

 

Representatives from international partners included Ms. Amy Phuong – Regional Manager for Indochina, University of Sunderland (UK); Ms. Le Thi Cam Tu – Education Consultant, TMC Academy (Singapore); Mr. Dennis Kim – Marketing Manager, Office of International Relations, Tongmyong University (South Korea); Mr. Seo Hyung Suk – Head of Admissions, Tongmyong University (South Korea); Prof. Dr. Ilkhom Irisboev – Head of International Relations, Kyungdong University (South Korea); Mr. Murray – Manager of the Office of International Relations, Kyungdong University (South Korea); Dr. Tran Thi Thuy Hang – Visiting Associate Professor, Faculty of Communication Sciences and Disorders, University of Alberta (Canada), and Lecturer at the Child Trauma Research Centre, University of Regina (Canada); Ms. Tram Doan – Head of Global Admissions, Hawaii Pacific University (USA); Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hien – Representative of the Saxony State Liaison Office for Science (Germany); Ms. Pham Thi Ly Thu Thao – Southern Regional Program Manager, Duc Anh EduConnect; and Mr. Truong Ngoc Hai – Study Abroad Consultant, Duc Anh EduConnect.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chau Dinh Thanh – Vice President of HCM-UTE emphasized that in the context of increasingly deep global integration, internationalization is not only an inevitable trend but also a key factor in enhancing the quality of higher education. HCM-UTE consistently prioritizes expanding cooperation with reputable international partners, thereby providing students with access to modern learning environments, advanced training programs, and comprehensive development opportunities in both knowledge and skills. He noted that the seminar serves as a bridge, helping students get closer to advanced education systems worldwide and confidently shape their future career paths.

Within the program, representatives of the Institute of International Education provided an overview of joint training programs, international transfer pathways, and new highlights in the 2026 admissions cycle. In addition, international partners delivered engaging presentations, offering detailed insights into learning environments, academic programs, scholarships, and post-graduation career opportunities in their respective countries.

 

Students attending the seminar had the opportunity to embark on an “academic journey” across various countries: from the prestigious education system of the United Kingdom with the University of Sunderland, to flexible articulation models in Singapore with TMC Academy, and dynamic learning environments in South Korea with Tongmyong University and Kyungdong University. Furthermore, destinations such as Australia, Canada, and the United States also presented attractive options with high-quality programs and broad career prospects.

Beyond providing valuable information, the seminar also enabled students to interact directly with speakers through Q&A sessions and one-on-one consultations at the end of the program. This allowed students to address specific questions regarding majors, admission requirements, and career orientation.

The seminar “Going global for local students” delivered significant practical value, contributing to guiding HCM-UTE students in shaping their future in the context of global integration.
