On the morning of April 17, 2026, at room E0-204, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering – Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCM-UTE), formerly known as Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, in collaboration with TopSolid and Ha An Technical Solutions Co., Ltd., organized the thematic seminar titled “From Design to CNC Manufacturing in the Woodworking and Furniture Industry.”

The thematic seminar “From Design to CNC Manufacturing in the Woodworking and Furniture Industry.”
Attending the seminar, from the industry side, were Mr. Arnaud – representative of TopSolid, and Mr. Nguyen Manh Ha – representative of Ha An Technical Solutions Co., Ltd. From HCM-UTE, participants included Dr. Mai Duc Dai – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering; Dr. Quach Van Thiem – Director of the HCM-UTE Binh Phuoc Campus and Head of the Wood Technology Division; along with faculty members and students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Mai Duc Dai – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, stated:
“In the context of rapid digital transformation and automation in industrial manufacturing, the need to closely align academic training with real-world industry demands has become increasingly urgent. To meet this trend, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at HCM-UTE has collaborated with enterprises to organize this seminar on ‘From Design to CNC Manufacturing in the Woodworking and Furniture Industry.’ The seminar serves as a platform for both academic and practical exchange, enabling lecturers and students to access modern technological processes while strengthening the connection between the University and industry partners. Through this seminar, all parties aim to enhance training quality, bridge the gap between theory and practice, and prepare a workforce capable of meeting the demands of the evolving labor market.”

The seminar “From Design to CNC Manufacturing in the Woodworking and Furniture Industry” not only delivered valuable professional knowledge but also strengthened the collaboration between the University and enterprises. Through such activities, HCM-UTE continues to affirm its practice-oriented training approach, building a solid foundation for students to confidently integrate into the labor market in the era of industrialization and digital transformation.
Regarding the University Renaming:
On December 26, 2025, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 2809/QĐ-TTg, officially renaming Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering (HCM-UTE). This change reflects the University’s multidisciplinary development orientation, its strengths in technology and engineering, and its current stature.
Prior to 2007, the University was a leading institution in technical teacher education. Since 2007, in response to changes in the national academic program classification system, the University has expanded its focus on technology, engineering, and related fields. The renaming aligns with the national higher education network development plan for the 2021–2030 period, with a vision to 2050, meeting workforce demands in the digital transformation era while affirming its role as a key national university in technology and engineering.
