On May 22-28, 2023, with the goal of expanding and strengthening strategic relationships with 04 major universities in Korea, the working delegation of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) consisted of 08 officials and employees led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang – Vice President - Acting President as Head of the delegation visited and worked with partners in Busan and Seoul, Korea.
During this visit to Korea, HCMUTE re-signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with some universities including Tongmyong University (Busan), Dong-A University (Busan), Sejong University (Seoul). and Kookmin University (Seoul).
Tongmyong University (TU) has been a strategic partner of HCMUTE with numerous significant collaboration activities throughout the years, with deep support between the two sides in joint training, student exchange, and scientific research. Through the visit and exchange, HCMUTE leaders appreciated the TU’s development strategies based on the “Do-ing Education” along with special policies to increase the number of international students of TU, which is in line with the mission goals and the key strategy of the University in the coming period. The cooperation between the two universities promises to contribute to the sustainable development of both in the future.

In Busan, the HCMUTE delegation also visited another longtime partner of the University, Dong-A University. This is one of the leading private universities in Korea. This university has formed and established a long-term partnership with HCMUTE by recruiting and sending language and graduate students to Dong-A University. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang proposed to expand cooperation between the two schools, including a plan to develop both quality and quantity for Dong-A Korean Language Center in HCMUTE, as well as co-organize international conferences such as the International Conference on Green Technology and Sustainable Development (GTSD 2024), and the International Conference on System Science and Engineering (ICSSE 2025).

With regards to Sejong University (SJU) - one of the leading universities in Korea and Asia with a large number of international and Vietnamese students studying and researching, the alumni team is working at HCMUTE and a PhD student at SJU acts as an important bridge connecting the two universities with the desire to open up more strategic and effective cooperation opportunities in the long run. On this mission, the delegation of HCMUTE visited the modern Drone, Mechatronics, and Autonomous Robot laboratories, and signed the MOU for extensive cooperation activities in the future. During the laboratory tour of Dr. Hong and Dr. Gwak, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang has been exposed to many key research projects of SJU from HCMUTE alumni. He emphasized that collaboration between the two universities will provide many benefits, contributing to the long-term development of both universities in the coming years.

The fourth destination in the HCMUTE work trip is Kookmin University - an excellent university in Korea and also a long-time partner of HCMUTE. The HCMUTE working delegation visited a key national level research laboratory in Korea for the design and testing of semiconductor chips. Representatives of the two universities also exchanged and discussed extensive cooperation in the field of semiconductor technology, as well as planned international research cooperation programs in Vietnam in which Kookmin University would participate. This is an excellent opportunity for HCMUTE lecturers and students to exchange knowledge and enhance valuable research experiences from a highly advantageous partner in the region's most advanced semiconductor industry.

Besides the working trips at the partner universities, the delegation also experienced the unique features of the culture and cuisine of Korea. The success of the trip allows HCMUTE to continue expanding and enhancing its cooperation with prominent Korean universities in the areas of research, training, lecturer exchange, and student exchange. With the strengths of each partner unit, the HMCUTE will have appropriate implementation strategies to link and diversify research and teaching activities, with the purpose of advancing the integration objective in accordance with its policy of multidisciplinary and sustainable development.
The trip got positive cooperation outcomes for the working delegation of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education and left all working delegation members with positive impressions and meaningful experiences back to the country and the Korean people. With the new period's emphasis on development, HCMUTE will continue to promote international cooperation, with a particular emphasis on intensive cooperation activities with the world's most prestigious universities.
