On the evening of June 23, 2020, the 4th “The Future Civil Engineers” academic contest organized by the Faculty of Construction of Ho Chi Minh University of Technology and Education took place at the Great Hall. Over 3 seasons, in this year, the competition had made a more thoughtful preparation of policies, renovated the format, attracted more than 30 teams from 8 universities in Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City.

Attending the contest, there were Assoc.Prof. Ngo Van Thuyen - Chairman of the School Council and the Department of Construction of Ho Chi Minh University of Technology and Education, other regional universities, representatives from other departments and units as well as companies, businesses and the participation of nearly 1,000 students in and out of the school.

The Academic Contest “The Future Civil Engineers” organized with the desire to bring a useful playground to exchange and learn knowledge in the field of construction for students, and bring new experiences along with a multi-faceted view of construction in real life. 
 
With the innovation in organizational form, which was the application of software in the rounds, the contest promised to bring many interesting and useful features to students. From over 30 teams from universities, the competition had selected the 4 best teams to participate in the final of “The Future Civil Engineers” season 4 in 2020. 

Participants will have the opportunity to experience the dramatic and exciting rounds from ‘Teamwork’ to ‘Problem-solving’,  and finally ‘Project Presentation’ to show their abilities and specialized knowledge in mechanics, structures, engineering geology, foundations, surveying, labor safety in construction, ...

“The Future Civil Engineers” was a meaningful academic competition that attracted a large number of students to participate in due to the practicality through each round of competition. Participating in this competition, teams would be assisted by lecturers in the Advisory Board to form architectural models or make structural plans and completion levels for the project using specialized computer software in construction.

At the end of the competition, the teams overcame challenges and showed their skills on stage. As for the results, the most favorite model prize belonged to FCE Youth team - University of Technology and Education of Ho Chi Minh City and other awards respectively belonged to: New Faces team _ University of Architecture (Consolation Prize), FCE Youth team - University of Technology and Education City of Ho Chi Minh City (Third prize), UTC 2 Forward team - University of Transport, branch in Ho Chi Minh City (Second Prize), and the winner of this year was NHHAD team - University of Technology and Education of Ho Chi Minh City.

The academic contest “The Future Civil Engineers” ended with many new directions for educational institutions. It created opportunities for exchanging and sharing good models and effective solutions in digital transformation among schools. Some of these solutions were suitable for the units; for students in the construction industry of Ho Chi Minh University of Technology and Education in particular and students studying this field in other Universities in the region in general. They had the opportunity to exchange, apply theoretical knowledge in real life; thereby, students can show their abilities, “good knowledge, strong skills”, to meet the needs of employers.
