On the afternoon of October 3, 2025, as part of the “Smart Governance & Empowering the HCMUTE brand” program to celebrate the 2025–2026 academic year and to welcome new students of the 2025 cohort, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) held the inauguration ceremony of the Hardware/Software Codesign Practice Room and the Mechanical and Dynamics Laboratory.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Doan Hong Duc, Head of the Technical Appraisal Division, Project Management Unit under the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET); Mr. Tran Duy Hai, Deputy General Director of ASIATECH Vietnam JSC; Mr. Dao Tuan Anh, Project Manager of Cinema & Television JSC; Mr. Tran Dac Khoa, General Director of Renesas Design Vietnam Co., Ltd.; and other business representatives.

From HCMUTE, attendees included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang – Vice Secretary of the Party Committee, President of the University; Dr. Truong Thi Hien – Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairwoman of the University Council; leaders of the Corporate Relations Office, Facilities Management Office, Equipment and Materials Office, the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and Faculty of Vehicle and Energy Engineering, along with faculty members and students.

Hardware/Software Codesign Practice Room

Speaking at the inauguration of the Hardware/Software Codesign Practice Room under the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang, President of HCMUTE, expressed his gratitude to Renesas Design Vietnam Co., Ltd. for their valuable companionship and support.

He emphasized that HCMUTE currently partners with over 1,650 strategic enterprises, among which Renesas is a key partner—not only collaborating in training activities but also playing a vital role in enhancing student competencies.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang reaffirmed that “the university’s graduates are the enterprises’ workforce.” Therefore, he expressed hope that Renesas would continue expanding its sponsorship and collaboration in training and research activities. Despite the university’s annual investments in infrastructure and laboratories, he acknowledged that further support from businesses is essential to create the best learning and training environment for students and to foster high-quality human resource development for society.

Mr. Tran Dac Khoa, General Director of Renesas Design Vietnam Co., Ltd., stated that Renesas places great emphasis on education and long-term workforce development. The company has established strong partnerships with many universities, including HCMUTE. Currently, about 30% of Renesas’ 1,200 engineers are HCMUTE graduates, reflecting both the quality of the university’s training and the close link between academia and industry.

He added that the inauguration marks an important milestone in long-term and sustainable cooperation between Renesas and HCMUTE, aiming to jointly develop high-quality human resources to meet the growing demands of the semiconductor industry.

The practice room, equipped for Hardware/Software Codesign training, supports modern IC design methods, with a particular focus on automotive chip design. With a Renesas-sponsored package worth USD 40,000 in design tools, the facility will help train highly skilled engineers in IC Design Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Electronics–Telecommunications Engineering. This initiative aligns with the rapid growth of the semiconductor industry in Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam as a whole.

Mechanical and Dynamics Laboratory

At the inauguration of the Mechanical and Dynamics Laboratory, Mr. Doan Hong Duc, Head of the Technical Appraisal Division under MOET’s Project Management Unit, expressed sincere appreciation to HCMUTE for its collaboration in developing the facility.

This laboratory is one of eight laboratories under the national project “Investment in Developing Key Shared Laboratories in the North, Central, and South Regions – Phase 2,” approved by MOET with a total investment of VND 320 billion.

The HCMUTE Mechanical and Dynamics Laboratory was approved by Decision No. 890/QD-BGDDT (March 21, 2024) of the Minister of Education and Training, with a total investment of VND 40 billion, including VND 36 billion from the state budget and VND 4 billion from the university’s legitimate revenue, implemented during 2023–2025.
Mr. Doan Hong Duc commended the project’s efficient and timely implementation and expressed hope that HCMUTE would maximize the lab’s utility for teaching and research. He also emphasized the importance of proper management and maintenance to ensure sustainable operation and fulfill the university’s assigned responsibilities.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hieu Giang, President of HCMUTE, shared that through continuous efforts, HCMUTE has achieved significant innovation and progress thanks to the dedication of its staff and faculty. He expressed his wish for continued sustainable collaboration with enterprises to develop more educational and research projects. The university will keep investing in modern facilities and laboratories to enhance the student learning experience, while seeking ongoing support from MOET to accelerate growth and achieve greater international recognition.

The Mechanical and Dynamics Laboratory aims to provide a state-of-the-art research environment for both faculty and students in mechanical and dynamics disciplines. It will also serve as an important scientific base for supporting research needs from educational institutions, specialized agencies, and enterprises in the southern region and nationwide.

The project is managed by the MOET Project Management Unit, implemented by the consortium of Cinema & Television JSC and My Thanh Scientific Equipment Co., Ltd., with ASIATECH Vietnam JSC serving as the supervising consultant. The laboratory is expected to enhance education quality, promote scientific research, and contribute to developing high-quality human resources in the mechanical and dynamics sectors.

The inauguration of these two new facilities marks a milestone in HCMUTE’s efforts to modernize its infrastructure and demonstrates the university’s strategic vision of continuously improving education, research, and community service.

This initiative embodies HCMUTE’s educational philosophy of “Humanity – Innovation – Integration”, reaffirming the university’s commitment to creating an advanced learning environment that fosters student talent and innovation while strengthening university–enterprise partnerships to develop students’ competencies for international integration and sustainable development.
