1. Background

The predecessor of the the International Relations Office was the scientific management unit as part of the Academic Affairs Office. 
1982: Office of Scientific Management and Production Labor 
1999:
Office of Scientific Management, International Relations, and Postgraduate Affairs
2006: Office of Scientific Mangement and Interntional Relations
January 2016: The International Relations Office was established on the basis of the International Relations Unit from the Office of Scientific Management and International Relations.

2. Distinguished achievements
Signed the agreement of collaboration with over 90 universities, institutes, and major corporations.
- Welcomed many important international visitors such as visitors  from Wuerttember State of Germany (2004), the Under Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce (2011), the special envoy of science of the White House, U.S. (2012), Minister of Culture and Education of Hessen State of Germany (2013), the Indian Consul General in HCMC (2014, 2015, 2016), U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry (01/2017), etc.
- Participated in numerous large international joint projects such as HEEAP, VULLI, BUILD-IT, USAID – COMET sponsored by U.S. partners, EVENT, CATALYST funded by the EU, etc.
- Assisted the University in improving its facilities by sponsoring modernly equipped laboratories.Typical examples are Rockwell Automation, Inc.,of the U.S, General Electric Corporation U.S, the HEEAP project, Siemens, Omron, Panasonic Electric Works, Tektronix, Toyota Vietnam, Texas Instruments, National Instruments, Yuwa, etc.
- Lecturers' professional capacity have been upgraded via professional development courses and students' knowledge has been expanded via exchange programs.
- HCMUTE collaborated with international partners to hold plenty of reputable and internationally recognized international conferences, namely the Conferences of Green Technology and Sustainable Development (GTSD) in 2012, 2014, 2016, the International Engineering and Technical Education Conference (IETEC’13), The IEEE International Conference on System Science and Engineering (ICSSE 2017), etc.
