The Ambassador of India to Vietnam, Mr. Pranay Verma and HCMUTE University Council Chairman, Mr. Ngo Van Thuyen

This visit has been initiated from the recognition of the existing long-term cooperation between HCMUTE and Embassy of India in Vietnam through Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City. In the meeting, the Ambassador Mr. Pranay Verma highly appreciated the contribution from HCMUTE so far in all activities presided by Embassy of India, and expected that the university would keep engaging even more in the near future. Mr. Pranay Verma also suggested that Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City should privilege the university by connecting it to more Indian industrial and academic partners in terms of exchange programs, scholarships, internships, research cooperation, online webinars/workshops, scientific conferences, and so on. Mr. Ngo Van Thuyen, on behalf of HCMUTE, showed gratitude to all the benefits that faculty members have gained thanks to the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program, collaboration of Indian educational institutions and valuable continuous supports from Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City for the series of International Conference on Green Technology and Sustainable Development (GTSD) since 2012, and many other achievements. The Chairman of HCMUTE University Council confirmed the university’s enthusiasm to get ready for the coming opportunities.

In the second phase of the visit, talking to ITEC alumni in HCMUTE, the Ambassador shared about significant achievements of India in applying up-to-date technologies in the period of Covid-19 pandemic to surmount the newly appeared problems in social life. The ITEC alumni comprehensively and seriously listened to the Ambassador with a proud of having been experienced in the Incredible India, a country of non-stop innovation. The knowledge they achieved from the ITEC program has actually enriched their competency in teaching activities in HCMUTE. Many of them even hoped to have another chance to explore the country in the future.

In the coming time, the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City and HCMUTE will develop together a detailed plan for student and lecturer exchange between HCMUTE and Indian universities. The pandemic could not discontinue the cooperation since online courses/webinars can still be organized as an alternative solution. Besides, the Ambassador also commits to support HCMUTE in scientific research and English improvement.

Friendly conversation between the Ambassador and HCMUTE ITEC Alumni
