1. Background
1976: Established Department of Physical Education, a part of Faculty of Applied Sciences.
1/1980: Established sub-department of Physical Education Department, namely Department of Military Education.
1991-2000: Reorganized to be a part of Office of Political Affair. Thedepartment of Military Education became a part of Ho Chi Minh City National University. 
1/2000-2003: Established Department of Marxism-Leninism & Physical Education as a part of Faculty of Applied Sciences.
7/2003: Established Department of PE within the Faculty of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's Ideology (now the Faculty of Political Sciences)
4/3/2017: Established the Center of PE and National Defense
2. TRAINING AND SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
Training:

Teaching PE and organizing sports activities for the staff and students of the University

Scientific research

6 school-level scientific research topics; 
10 scientific articles featured in specialist journals;
Successfully instructing the defense of 3 master's theses

3. ACHIEVEMENTS
- Collectively and individually receiving Certificates of Commendation  of the Central Association of Sports in Universities and Vocational School and the HCMC Association of Sports in Universities and Vocational Schools in many consecutive years
- Certificate of Commendation of the Central Association for schools with outstanding performance in the term of 2007-2012
- Numerous certificates of merits from the President for individuals with outstanding accomplishments in sports competitions at many levels
