International Dancing Robot Contest 2016 marked a new development according to the theme of the year "international integration" of HCMUTE. This year, the DRC 2016 has extended with the participant of 55 teams, including students from secondary schools, high schools, universities in Vietnam and especially with many teams from Laos, Cambodia and Thailand.
As every year, DRC 2016 and HCMUTE JOB-DAY are held at the same time, May 23rd 2016. It is opportunity for engineering students who are interested in technology approach to employer convincingly with impressive scientific performances. The jury and guests include not only lecturer and experienced technicians from other universites but also technical experts from leading companies such as JABIL, STEM – The sponsor and main employers of HCMUTE
After qualifying round, 06 best robots have entered the final round “SOLO DANCE” to continue to choose the winner. After six impressive performances: Diversity of Movements, Movement and music agreement, Appearance and Beauty of Movements, the winner was PILOT OLD WOMEN team, the second prize was 2NT team and the third prize was POKER team, all three teams came from Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the host university. The team from Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL), Thailand shared the consolation prize with BLV team and THT 2 team (HCMUTE).
DRC 2016 ended with a good repercussion in audience and students. Ho Thi Thu Ngan, Foreign Language student, said: " The contest is so amazing, I can’t imagine how can they create such robots. It is very difficult". Chitra, NPIC student (National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia) said: " A little upset for not having any prizes, but we are happy that we tried our best and got a lot of experience. Especially, we can meet friendly friends here. It is wonderful".
We hope this contest will be invested and extended towards a technical playground with regional and international exchange spirit.
