On the morning of April 10, 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) held the opening ceremony of the 2025 Traditional Student Sports Festival. The event aims to foster a vibrant competitive spirit across the university, promote physical training, enhance health, and provide an opportunity for students to showcase their talents, teamwork, and agility.

15 Student Unions Participate in HCMUTE Student Sports Festival 2025
This year’s sports festival carries special significance as it celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025), the 138th International Workers’ Day (May 1, 1886 – May 1, 2025), and the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2025). It is also an occasion for the university to identify and select talented athletes to strengthen the university's teams for competitions both inside and outside the university, contributing to the overall sports achievements and reinforcing the reputation of HCMUTE students

Representing the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union at the opening ceremony were Mr. Le Duc Dat – Executive Committee Member, Deputy Head of the Youth Union's University Affairs Division, and Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Student Association, along with Ms. Dang Nguyen Kieu Vy – Officer of the Youth Union’s Propaganda and External Relations Division. From HCMUTE, the ceremony welcomed Dr. Quach Thanh Hai – Vice President and Head of the Festival Organizing Committee, together with leaders of various departments, staff, and over 500 student-athletes and supporters from the university.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Quach Thanh Hai emphasized that the festival is not only a sports playground but also a venue to cultivate unity, determination, and pride among HCMUTE students. It is a meaningful activity to celebrate the nation’s major historical milestones and discover and nurture talented athletes for future competitions.

The 2025 HCMUTE Student Sports Festival takes place from April 9 to May 11, featuring 8 events across 5 sports: men’s volleyball, women’s volleyball, men’s football, men’s basketball, men’s and women’s chess, men’s and women’s badminton.
