On the afternoon of March 27, 2025, at Meeting Room II, 6th floor of the Central Building of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE), a warm gathering of alumni from the ITEC program successfully took place.
ITEC DAY is a special event commemorating the friendship between India and Vietnam through the ITEC program. It also serves as an opportunity for ITEC alumni to reconnect, share their experiences, and reflect on their learning journeys under the program.

ITEC DAY 2025 Program
From HCMUTE, the event was honored by the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chau Dinh Thanh – Vice President, along with representatives from various university departments and faculty members. Representing the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City were Dr. Vipra Pandey – Consul General of India and Mr. Mahesh Chand Giri – Indian Consul. The event also welcomed Mr. Do Viet Ha – Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations, Mr. Huynh Cong Hung – Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-India Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City, and Mr. Vinh Quoc Bao – Deputy Director of the General Science Library and an ITEC alumnus.
ITEC (Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation) is a fully funded scholarship program covering a wide range of fields and professions. Selected participants receive scholarships from the Government of India, which include round-trip airfare, tuition fees, accommodation, and a monthly stipend.

In his speech at the gathering, Dr. Vipra Pandey emphasized the significant role of the ITEC program in fostering educational cooperation between Vietnam and India. He expressed his delight in witnessing the success of ITEC alumni and their contributions across various sectors in Vietnam. He stated:
"ITEC is not just a scholarship program but also a cultural bridge that enhances mutual understanding between the people of our two nations. I hope that in the future, more Vietnamese participants will join this program, bringing back valuable knowledge and experiences to contribute to their country's development."
Additionally, Dr. Vipra Pandey affirmed that the Consulate General of India will continue to support and facilitate the expansion of educational and research collaborations between institutions in India and Vietnam.

Responding to the warm sentiments from the Indian Consulate, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chau Dinh Thanh expressed his honor that HCMUTE was chosen to host ITEC DAY 2025. He emphasized that the ITEC program not only provides learning and development opportunities for Vietnamese faculty and professionals but also strengthens bilateral cooperation.
"Today’s event marks an important step in promoting academic exchange and educational cooperation between Vietnam and India. HCMUTE is committed to continuing its partnership with the ITEC program to create more learning opportunities for young Vietnamese, thereby improving human resource quality and contributing to the overall development of both nations," he stated.
He also extended his gratitude to the Government of India and the Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City for their invaluable support of the ITEC program and expressed hope for further collaboration between HCMUTE and Indian educational institutions in the future.

Mr. Huynh Cong Hung highlighted the strong Vietnam-India relationship, particularly through the ITEC program. He emphasized that ITEC not only enhances professional development for Vietnamese professionals but also plays a crucial role in cultural exchange and strengthening mutual understanding between the two nations.
Insights from ITEC Alumni
A special highlight of ITEC DAY 2025 was the sharing session featuring three alumni who directly experienced the program.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Truong Dinh Nhon, Dean of the Faculty of International Education at HCMUTE and an ITEC 2013 alumnus, shared that the program significantly enhanced his expertise and provided opportunities to network with international peers, gaining deeper insights into Indian culture and education. He expressed his gratitude to the Government of India and hoped that more HCMUTE faculty and staff would join the program in the future.

M.A. Le Mai Kim Chi, Lecturer at the Faculty of Fashion & Tourism at HCMUTE and an ITEC 2013 alumnus, highlighted that the program not only enriched her professional knowledge but also improved her English communication skills, soft skills, and adaptability in a multicultural learning environment.

With continued support from the Consulate General of India and HCMUTE’s active engagement, the ITEC program is expected to create even more academic and collaboration opportunities, further strengthening the friendship between the two nations.
The event ended with a group photo featuring representatives from HCMUTE, the Indian Consulate, and ITEC alumni, followed by a captivating traditional Indian dance performance.
