On the morning of March 30, 2025, candidates at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) completed the first round of the 2025 Competency Assessment Exam organized by the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM). The exam was conducted in a serious and orderly manner, in accordance with regulations, creating a favorable environment for candidates to confidently showcase their abilities.
This year, HCMUTE welcomed over 3,700 candidates—twice as many as in 2024—demonstrating the increasing interest in this exam. 2025 marks the third consecutive year that HCMUTE has cooperated with VNU-HCM to organize the Competency Assessment Exam, and the fourth year that HCMUTE has used the exam results as part of its admissions process. With experience from previous years, HCMUTE continues to affirm its role as an active partner contributing to the overall success of the exam.

The first round of the 2025 VNU-HCM Competency Assessment Exam was conducted at 118 test centers across 55 clusters in 25 provinces and cities, ranging from the Central Region to the Southwestern Region. Among these, Ho Chi Minh City had the largest number of test sites, with 35 in total. This year’s exam maintained its format of 120 multiple-choice questions over 150 minutes, conducted on paper. However, the test structure was adjusted to align with the 2018 General Education Program.
After seven years of implementation (2018–2024), the Competency Assessment Exam has become a reliable admissions method, contributing to improved enrollment quality not only at VNU-HCM but also at many universities and colleges nationwide, including HCMUTE.

Despite being born with a disability, he participated in the exam with the dream of becoming an Information Technology student at HCMUTE. His determination, along with that of many other candidates, continues to inspire a spirit of learning and a desire to pursue knowledge.
